Eigenradio: "Statistically Optimal Music", Ho Ho Ho...

Supposedly this is an experiment in randomly and automatically scanning, analyzing, digesting (and...um...'regurgitating(?)) the output of radio stations and making new music, on the fly, in real time, and then streaming it back out for the listening public to hear.

Three main questions:
1) Whua!?
2) Sucks or Rocks?
3) Copyright ramifications? I'm sure the RIAA will blow a gasket if these MIT people get this thing to work.

I guess when the main site Eigenradio Isn't Slashdotted to death, we can hear it for ourselves.

i listened to it for about 5 minutes once. it sounded like someone had left a pop station slightly untuned, lots of static/noise and a pop song fading in and out.

RIAA and ASCAP/BMI won't have an issue, you have to play a song for more than 30 seconds for it to count, as I recall.
