Here are several that I'd like to hear:

Mya's "My Love is Like...Woa" + Liam Lynch's "United States of Whatever" = "My Love is Like...Whatever"

Jay's "Can I Get a..." + Tom Waits' "Chocolate Jesus" = "Can I Get a Chocolate Jesus (H.O.V.A.)"

Cat Power's "I Don't Blame You" + Basement Jaxx's "Get Me Off" = "I Don't Blame You (For Getting Me Off)"

Madonna's "Open Your Heart" + the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" = "Open Your Army"

Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River" + Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" = "Britney Will Tear Us Apart"

i love how people insist on the silly re-phrased titles

i just wish there was an easy way to get an acapella or instrumental of any track you wanted sometimes

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 30 August 2003 06:16 (twenty-two years ago)

sadly none of these would work due to key differences and whatnot. but then what do i know?

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Saturday, 30 August 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

don't they have a pitch shifter for that yet?

autovac (autovac), Saturday, 30 August 2003 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm convinced that Madonna's "Vogue" + Saint Etienne's "Hug My Soul" could be an absolute belter. Even if it would bear the atrocious title "Vogue My Soul".

edward o (edwardo), Saturday, 30 August 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

you could fit the Madonna vocal over the SE track or vice versa and it'd probably work equally well either way

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 30 August 2003 08:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I was thinking of putting the SE vocal over the Madonna track. Would that I had the talent to do it myself.

Actually, what would happen if you put the vocals of "Hard To Explain" over the backing of "Genie In A Bottle"? Are there any reverse bootlegs?

edward o (edwardo), Saturday, 30 August 2003 09:34 (twenty-two years ago)

you could call it "the post-modern age"

there was one called 'Genie's Revenge' which i think put Aguilera's vocals over 'Someday'...but a reverse of 'a stroke of genieus' would be quite terrible i think

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 30 August 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't see it that way

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Saturday, 30 August 2003 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh snotty

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 30 August 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

My bootleg idea was the vocals from Holiday In Cambodia over AM/PM by Christina Milian. I don't know if it would work, thanks to having not the slightest idea about music, but it's been festering in my mind for some time. It would probably have been better to strike while people still actually remembered the latter song (which is still ace btw)...

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Saturday, 30 August 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh snotty

my joke was obscure? that's unpossible

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Saturday, 30 August 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

no not you Jim!

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 30 August 2003 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Gary Glitter: "I Love You Love Me Love" + Robert Miles' "Children" 0 "I Love Children"

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Saturday, 30 August 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Beastie Boys - "Shadrach" + Sly and the Family Stone - "Loose Booty" + The Doors - "Strange Days." The hooks all sound exactly the same.

Evan (Evan), Saturday, 30 August 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

sean paul "get busy" + bee gees "stayin' alive" = "stayin' busy"...
it works on the verses.

gygax! (gygax!), Saturday, 30 August 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

One day, someone will start a company and become filthy rich charging people to produce and fulfill all their mash-up dream requests.

(or not.)

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 30 August 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i had a dream about "get busy" over a joy division track

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 30 August 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

How's about the Beatles' 'Taxman' + Black Babbath's 'Paranoid'?

Ben Dot, Saturday, 30 August 2003 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Oops! That should have been an 's'. Who the hell are Black Babbath?

Ben Dot, Saturday, 30 August 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)

All of them.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 30 August 2003 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

my brief flirtation with mash-ups included the marriage of;
"cotton eye joe" by rednex with "doop" by doop
and
"goodbye song" by the moldy peaches with "crescendolls" by daft punk

both worked surprisingly well

you're a sick individual.

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Monday, 1 September 2003 07:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm still waiting for someone more talented/technologically enfranchised than myself to phase Blur's "Trimm Trabb" in and out of DJ Shadow's "Midnight In A Perfect World".

Anyone?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 1 September 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i think my "wild thing" - "grindin" mashup was promising, but i abandoned it in its infancy. "grind thing". (think the grindin' chorus slightly timestretched to sound like "GRIIIN DING...")
