Don't ask me, I don't even know who Momus is, mate.

There's actually a DVD coming out soon called 'Momus: Man of Letters', a Finnish documentary made in 1993, and they send a reporter down to Oxford Street to ask people randomly if they've heard of Momus. And several really do say that Mei line. Finally one bespectacled geek says 'If it's Momus the band you mean, yeah, they're good. If it isn't, I dunno.'

surely, 14 year old Momus also listened to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Nazareth? like other british and american 14 year olds at that time?

There's a difference between 'hearing' and 'listening to'.

I bought a bootleg of a Deep Purple album off a kid at school and I think the tape was fucked, because it was just this muffled murky blur of drums and guitars. I hated it.

Seriously, the only records I bought at 14 were by David Bowie. Which means I probably only bought one record that year, 'Diamond Dogs'.

Haaaaauuuuuuuwwwwwwoooooooooo! And in the death, as the last few corpses lay rotting in the slimy thoroughfare...
