is one of the best albums i've heard this year.

plangent tech micro electro house stuff blah blah YES but beautiful and heart-tugging.

all this plus track 8 actually nicks the melody from that huge 80s buttrock anthem i'm forgetting the name of that goes "i'm losing sleep overrrr youuuu...blah blah blah blah blah blah...wherever you go...i will be with you....dun dun dun duhhhhh..."

further investigation leads me to believe this is richard marx

dengo matherton (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 31 August 2003 04:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i honestly can't decide if this is apex of human endeavor or great folly.

dengo matherton (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 31 August 2003 04:10 (twenty-two years ago)

"hold on to the nights" by yes, richard marx

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Sunday, 31 August 2003 04:56 (twenty-two years ago)

the flame - cheap trick

edddddd, Sunday, 31 August 2003 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

is that it? ooops

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Sunday, 31 August 2003 05:02 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah think so. It does sound exactly like something marx would have done.

edddddddd, Sunday, 31 August 2003 05:35 (twenty-two years ago)

anyway would like to hear more about the Funk record.

edddddd, Sunday, 31 August 2003 05:36 (twenty-two years ago)

both are from Illinois so i guess it is close enough?

anyways, the album is great. "twingo" is my fav thus far. it has arpeggios and analogue electro bass. solid.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Sunday, 31 August 2003 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

o man. have been playing that tune off gabbanet all week. gotta get this.

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 31 August 2003 05:44 (twenty-two years ago)

"quiet please" is sick too, bleep bleep.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Sunday, 31 August 2003 05:48 (twenty-two years ago)

jess, you know what you gotta do here.

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 31 August 2003 05:49 (twenty-two years ago)

dengo matherton (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 31 August 2003 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha will 2003 end up trumping 2001 for sheer insane number of brilliant albums?!? (nb. I obv. haven't heard this yet but somehow I just no it will be excellent)

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 31 August 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

this is music for the folks who like it to be both sad and uplifting at once. it's very human and honest and gorgeous. i would like to see a sofia coppola video for any of these tracks...</gush>

disco stu (disco stu), Sunday, 31 August 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't really like his cover of "When Will I Be Famous" but "Now You Know" is just about one of the most beautiful things I've heard this year. It reminds me of what Jim O'Rourke could do or might probably do if he was signed to Kompakt or German. Especially when the male vocal (it's not all in the male vocal because there's a dry dreaminess to the track which is very O'Rourke) comes in near the end, it's like all the best bits of Eureka but better. (Haha nostalgia for the not yet happened future... again).

Cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 September 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

God, Cozen, you've just made me want to hear a Superpitcher remix of O'Rourke's version of "Women of the world".... Maybe we could all pitch in and comission one?

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Monday, 1 September 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

that would be *amazing*.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 1 September 2003 11:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this album out?

Cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 September 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

google and bpitchcontrol site are both revealing a big fat zip, so i'm guessing no, not yet

zebedee (zebedee), Monday, 1 September 2003 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)
