Elton at #1 maybe perhaps. I think Seal is a bit of a dark horse this week but who cares really? Dido single is troubling me because it's identical to all her previous drivellings and yet I've heard it a thousand times and I still find it to be quite nice, even enjoyable. And the video almost TOUCHING, christ I am unwell.

I didn't register my dislike of Kelly Clarkson last week, in her video she looks so infuriatingly pleased with herself that you just want everything to go really badly for her, ever. Maybe she's "playing a character", I dunno.

What exactly are the Barn Dance Boys? When is "Chihuahua" by Dare out?

Robin Goad (rgoad), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 07:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Half an hour or thereabouts to go. Nine picks in. I may well close it off on time this week, because judging by the standard of new entries listed (I had seen that list - there's gonna be a lot of them, a lot of which I have missed off, yes - don't ask me why I left Keith Murray on, though), this week's chart is going to be nigh-on unbearable. The amount of pictures I'll have to put in in place of swearing hurts my brain.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Time up, betting ends, blah-de-fucking-blah.

lid, Tuesday, 2 September 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

i love the strings breakdown on the 'Sympathy For The Devil' remix - that's the best bit of any new single released this week

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, go on then. We'll let you off this time.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

argh please let me off, I need to beat Stevem. and look, there's no midweek tackle going on because I've taken the wily tactic of copying Alex guess-for-guess.

The Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love? #5
The Cooper Temple Clause - Promises Promises #17

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

don't let him play William, muahaha

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Argh, leaving Ian in, still have to do the spreadsheet and WE'RE ALREADY UNDERWAY, Spiritualized new at #38, that wasn't on the list but ARRGH ARRGH ARRRGHHHH..........

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

FIRST POINTS - Freeland #35. Dunno who's scored what, but this tune is classy so I'll leave off working it out for a second.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Whew. Done. And Robin Goad gets 5 for Freeland.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

And The Barndance Boys have just entered in the high thirties. Not the top ten like everyone predicted. Thus, I'll probably be the only person that has to suffer this.

GRR.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

#32. No points.

XTM perilously close to the edge of the top 30, at 30. Fifteen weeks now.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Marilyn Manson #29. 1 each for Alex, Lid and Ian.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i didn't realise Black Eyed Peas featured Timbers - i guess it'll def be number 1 then

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

A are #23. KNEW I should've put them in the picks, but I didn't.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you reckon Wes actually thinks he's really good at putting together bedding tracks, or something?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and Cooper Temple Clause #19. 1 each for Alex, Ian and Neil.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmm, maybe just copying Alex IS the best thing to do...

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Stones #14, 5 each for Joni and Lid.

Stripes #13, 5 for Jel.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

CLARKSON IS 10!!! 10 EACH for Siegbran and Neil.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

come on you starsailing motherfuckers

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

YES!

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

oh shit i thought had them at 9 but i went for 8 instead like a nong

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Starsailor #9 AND THE CROWD GOES WILD AS SWYGART TWATS IT IN THE ONION BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG-AH! 10 for me, also Alex and Ian. Steve and Joni get 5, 1 for Neil, Jel and Lid.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

imagine if Iron Maiden went straight in at #1

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

First Maiden singles form the album usually go top ten, so I'd say number 3.

jel, Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Won't happen, I don't think - four from six are new. Guessing it's Big Bro next, with Maiden four or five.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Maiden rule.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought that Iron Maiden single was a limited edition? Either it's not that limited or it only takes very few sales to get into the top 10...

Siegbran (eofor), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

So it's Maiden #6, Big Bro #4, Dido #2, B-E-P #1. Yep, the Black Eyed Peas are number one. Weird, ain't it?

Tallying, picking etc. to happen soon enough.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

That BEP song sounds suspiciously like Coolio's "I See You When You Get There".

Siegbran (eofor), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

You are not wrong there...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

That BEP song sounds suspiciously like someone jumping over a shark.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Hurrah! Alex bud, I owe you a cheese and onion pastie in exchange for this. But I suppose I'll have to vow not to do it again as it's a bit of a cop-out.

hah Stevem, sniff it.

Affectian (Affectian), Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i sniff down at you from my lofty perch

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw an 11 or 12-year-old boy (my guess, at any rate) wearing an Iron Maiden T-shirt the other day, which might be a sign of some kind of endurance / comeback - #6 must be their best position since the early 90s.
