perhaps the boom selectors of this very parish

yep, you can order tickets here

the flyer is an absolute masterpiece imo

good line-up too, tho it may not be a full-on thing considering it's a Tuesday night, hard to predict the turnout and atmos - but should be fun

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Wednesday, 17 September 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw the flyer and wondered if it would be ILX populated. Unfortunately I had to go back to dear Ormskirk on Saturday night after appearing at another In the City event.

Pics of which can be found here:-

oh ! i was the one in the long sleeved orange + yellow
stripy top and a white bandana sitting
on that wall with a girl with brown hair.

there were about 3 video cameras on the go filming about 15 people dancing which i thought was cute.

busy enough for a tuesday i guess because the 2 bars we were in prior
(pur space, po na na) were, literally, 2 people shy of being empty.

they should have held it *in* po nana i was thinking.

you should've come and said hello you big galoot....except you probably didn't know who i was - i can't remember seeing anyone in a white bandana tho :\ . Cis and lurker pal turned up tho, yay - and i finally met SPACK, another goal achieved...thank y'alls for turning up

hopefully there will be another event soon, on a sensible night this time (e.g. Saturday) - i've got photos of last night to go up somewhere soon...

I had a look for a bandanaguy too but didn't see no fruity-coloured top wearing guy. Tag should've been there too but he was probably off jetting about exotic locations like Barnsley and Exeter.

Steve, I trust the meeting-me goal was just above 'Must grow three foot long beard' and just below 'Must hang in a buffalo stance with a bunch of thalidomide kids'.

All other nights I've been to at Sofa have around the same amout of people in (on Fri and Sat) but the dancefloor is rarely as packed as it was last night. Better looking crowd than usual too. V.looking forward to the next one, and if it is on a Friday or Saturday I'll be able to drag a lot more people down. Esp if you get Osymyso on the scene, or even the big Dick X.

i had a shave this morning Ian, sorry about that (it was clearly the only reason i didn't pull that girl*)

do not speak ill of the buffalo stance or the flidkids however

*by that i mean any

piscesboy, Thursday, 18 September 2003 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

eleven months pass...

god this was a year ago.

doesn't time fly?

so...are boot nights still a regular thing? are there lodas of cool mash-up nights i'm not aware of popping up all over the country full of roof raising cheers from glamorous types each time a go home classic is dropped?

...or has it died on it's arse (again)?

piscesboy, Thursday, 16 September 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

there was an XFM Remix night in Manchester the other week (first one I think) at which the Boom Crew were playing I thin. Alas I could not make it as it was a schoolnight (and I didn't even find out about it til a week before, tcha).

looking at the GYBO forum there have been things happening in places like Bristol and Preston on a regular basis as well as Sheffield, Brighton and even Belgium, Switzerland and Germany.

I think the ethos drifted into regular club nights and playlist policies tho, taking the buzz away from the custom/DIY nights. You hear silly mash-ups everywhere now, even high street O'Neills on a Friday night. That's progress!
