should be instantly recognisable to anyone who knows the lyric !

a glam electro stomp-y kind of thing :

'look at you, are you awake yet
you need your beauty sleep,
your lines on your face tell a story
so now it's time for laser beams
look at you flying high above the ground
you're not coming down...'

any guesses ? it's new i think.

hi - this is clearly a re-edit of an 80s euro electro-pop track released under the radar to avoid copyright but can anyone ID the track for me?

I was googling what I could decipher of the lyrics to try to get it but was googling "my little child is now" for "china star".

I wasn't familiar with the track at all but was able to find it by searching for a couple of snatches of lyrics that I could decipher ("lights of the city" and "shine around you"). That brought up a Discogs page where someone had transcribed the entire lyric.

excellent, your ears are better than mine.

anyway, that turns out to be a better edit than I thought. I could do without the clappy intro for home listening but it is useful if you are playing it out (which I have not done yet).

As I said I wasn't familiar with the original but I liked the chords and watery synth lines. I preferred the disco-ish beat of the edit. I'm not sure how widespread that trick of making the vocals muffled was back then, but that effect, combined with the type of chords used, and even the lyrical phrases I mentioned, reminded me of a fairly recent Russian band called Tesla Boy. I remember buying their first album about 10 years ago and I could swear one of the tracks contains the vocal line "lights of the city" and with the voice processed in a very similar manner. But perhaps these things are fairly generic.

I've no idea either but Tesla Boy is a good band or project name.

I thought their first album was very good -- good enough for me to buy it, but I didn't like what they did after that. I'm going to dig out that first album and see if I'm right that they may have got the vocal sound and the line "lights of the city" from that Kano track.
