New Felix Da Housecat, any connected individual willing to leak?

It's called THE COURTSHIP OF DEVIN DAZZLE!

I know because one of my best friends was THERE when he decided!

Apparently the single is promoing around but I've not heard it, I'm surprised there's been no mention of this, Felix is dance music's greatest superstar. He gets bigger cheers stepping up to the decks than most DJs would get for dropping Good Life or something.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Keep in mind I have no idea whether this is even being promoed fully yet but I wanted to start some anticipation going to see if it ended as nicely as the Basement Jaxx thread.

Also I wanted to see how many people are into this.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

the title alone makes me happy beyond belief.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i prefer his mixes to his albums though.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah he was going to leave out Devin Dazzle which my friend pointed out would be mentalism. I liked the original "The Neon Memoirs of Devin Dazzle" too, but that was too long apparently.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

you need to bear in mind that his superstardom is highly localized.

he has zero media presence this side of the atlantic.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

That would be the left side?

JoB (JoB), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

it's all relative.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Zane Lowe on Radio One plays Cyberwhore as his fourth record here. You can download bits of it here. But a completely different version with a new vocal will appear on the Devan Dazzle album.

JoB (JoB), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

BEST YEAR EVER

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

true story:
felix comes into the shop where i work and immediately starts asking why he's filed in the house section. because, "i'm not house no more, i'm electroclash"
i didn't have the balls to tell him we'd re-file him as soon as he changed his name to felix the electroclashcat...

heywood jablomi (heywood), Wednesday, 3 September 2003 00:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll definitely check for this. the title alone makes it worth my time. i was nuts over kittenz and thee glitz for about ten minutes, but it was a very fun ten minutes.

rob geary (rgeary), Wednesday, 3 September 2003 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

he has zero media presence this side of the atlantic

what about the motorola commercial?

ts: missy and madonna for the gap vs. felix and paul van dyk for motorola? haha

disco stu (disco stu), Wednesday, 3 September 2003 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

ask 100 people who wrote the music for the motorola commerical and 98 of them will have no clue.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Thursday, 4 September 2003 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

According to 2 sources, Emperor Norton and BurnitBlue this new DEVIN DAZZLE album will be a 2004 release.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 4 September 2003 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

well he is in the commercial...do you know who wrote the song?

disco stu (disco stu), Thursday, 4 September 2003 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

it has to be a 2004 release as it's not finished yet.
he played at turnmills (ack) tonight to promote a mix cd he's done for bugged out. lots of people pumping their fists and dancing on the podium. i wanted a glowstick.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 5 September 2003 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds good to me.

if you can't pump your fists to control freek then there must be a puncture in the air somewhere

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 5 September 2003 07:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Cyberwhore is a bit uninspired though, hope the album is better.

Siegbran (eofor), Friday, 5 September 2003 07:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Kittenz is the last great dance album, I don't mean the last as in the last, the last as in the most recent. Except a few I'm probably forgetting.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 5 September 2003 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Control Freaq and Magic Fly di it for me from Kittenz

mentalist (mentalist), Friday, 5 September 2003 08:26 (twenty-one years ago)

going to see felix at chibuku tonight! oh yes

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 5 September 2003 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Did anybody go to his show at Vision? I wanted to but pussed out at the last minute because of the $25 price tag.

ben welsh (benwelsh), Friday, 5 September 2003 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Kish Kash is the new last great dance album

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 September 2003 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

three months pass...
THE RECORD IS TREMENDOUS SO FAR!!! it sounds like lcd's "yeah" split up into 20 tracks (one sounds EXACTLY like lcd -- maybe james produced it?), except for the one that sounds like "bizarre love triangle."

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

*drool*

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

*double drool*

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

gah damn you connected individuals. or is it a CABAL?

Yancey I understand there is a track with James Murphy. So Felix said when he was in Dublin, to a mate.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

except for the one that sounds like "bizarre love triangle."

Well, you've sold me, at least!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

*three long strings of drool*

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm dying here!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i think it's out in may. the record alternates between overblown mega-pop tracks (like this choir singalong one about la) and these morose, muted hooky cuts (my favorites). the dfa track really is tremendous. it's no. 3 or 4 on there i think. there are clearly a lot of guest spots (i'm pretty sure the adult. grrrl is on there twice), but my tracklisting doesn't mention collaborators or any of that shit.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

someone please take the title of this thread up on its offer

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

amen

Michael B, Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

it's not really mine to leak, if that makes sense. sorry dudes.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't wait for this, I cannot live on Felix mixes alone. (though the Bugged Out one has grown on me alot)

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 19:54 (twenty-one years ago)

no problem yanc3y!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 19:59 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks for the info tho, it's very exciting!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes thanks dude. Are there any real banger type tracks on it Yancey?

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

a couple. it's primarily very laid back/relaxed/weary-sounding. but of course weary-sounding house/electro, not singer-songwriter shit. i've only listened twice. will post more impressions in a bit.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

he did do a track with james, but perhaps it didn't make it to the album? it has murphy ranting like a madman - you'd instantly recognize the voice.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Is there a street date, yanc3y?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

may something or other.

it sure as shit sounds like james, lauren, but he's hardly ranting.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

perhaps he got the cheap non union equivalent

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:10 (twenty-one years ago)

dennis leary?

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

senor murpho

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Timotei Goldswarthinghairio.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

swartho housington

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks, guys. my boss and her assistant both just yelled, "what's so funny?" how could i explain?
anyway, yanc3y, i'm assuming that's the james track or a version thereof. i stand by the madman thing, though. i thought, "shit, he's really gone nuts this time" when i heard it. maybe it's just an unhinged timbre to his voice?

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

my initial post at the top is a bit mental, I really like Felix but was I drunk or something.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:21 (twenty-one years ago)

cuz you were THERE

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

yes. greatest fan moment of my life "Felix have you met Ronan". I liked the implication that it was likely our paths may have crossed before, in Ibiza, back in the 80s, when I was grilling burgers and he worked as a shoemaker. You know how it is.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

you both use the same dealer, don't you?...you know, the guy who lives down by the automat on lex whose brother used to be in that indie band that almost got signed. i think i might have gone out with his sister once, too.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

nice people, but don't ever lend him your fondue kit, is what i'm saying if you get me.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I threw some cheese on Felix's burger, dropped the ketchup, and it was just. like. that.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

chelonis r jones to thread.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

this is every bar convo i've ever had in nyc.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

all we need to make it complete is a gibbering gay man from argentina coked out of his mind, babbling about "i can't believe it's not butter" and how great this country is.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

the album can never be as good as this thread now.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

it's like the basement jaxx thead, innit?

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

That actually sounds great.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

my friend has a very funny tape of him interviewing felix, though I can't remember what exactly is funny about it at the moment (will report back later)

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it still called: THE COURTSHIP OF DEVIN DAZZLE
