Everything about this announcement feels like a thick, congealing mass bubbling up against and thoroughly obscuring a beautiful sunset.

Whoops. I think we started this thread at exactly the same time, Frod: Shortlist Finalists Announced

I hope The Streets win it. I'd hate to see the hype of the year championed by the NME type act winning it, like Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Interpol.

Wasn't Original Pirate Material a 2002 release? The eligibility period for these things always seems suspect to me.

David Beckhouse (David Beckhouse), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:19 (twenty-two years ago)

this list tastes like burning

Isn't Floetry up for the UK Mercury Music Prize too?
Who the fuck are they?

Floetry is some horrible poetry boutique hip-hop stuff. (I know I'm not into hip-hop, but I know the difference between this and some rapping worth a bit of respect.)

I hope Interpol wins and makes everyone cry

You know, even the things on that list that I like, or can at least abide, aren't things I'd go around giving awards too. That said, I wanna see Chan Marshall's acceptance speech, so I'm rooting for her.

JesseFox (JesseFox), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

(awards to, that is)

You and Anthony can have a big ol' party while the rest of us steal your beer.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)
