Does Komeda (the band, not composer) still exist?

If so, shouldn't there be a new album soon?
Or did I miss it?

OK, there must be someone from some label reading this that's considering releasing some wayworse album by some slowspeedmetal groop, so why don't cha make a call to Sweden right now! They're probably awake and everything!

Komeda. Better than Basement Jaxx.

Momus (Momus), Monday, 8 September 2003 08:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know what that means.

i've listened to this more than anything else i've had for ages. lots of great tracks and, to my ears, possibly the best complete release they've done. the missing link between the b-52s and stereolab? why don't they have their own web site?

phil turnbull (philT), Saturday, 13 September 2003 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

two years pass...
why don't they have their own web site?

They had a web site at http://www.komeda.se/ but it's apparently offline now.

According to this site, the band members have moved on to other projects. It's too bad, I miss them...

Thread revived because of early-morning listening to Kokomemedada which sounds even better now than how I remember it being.

And what of Old Navy using "Check It Out" in a new ad campaign? (At least, I think it's Old Navy. Could be Target.)

Old Navy.

You know, I never heard this record, even though I've loved everything else they've done.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 30 June 2006 14:36 (nineteen years ago)

They are busy raising their family

I, too, while loving Komeda, have somehow not got around to buying Kokomemedada (which is a very nice word to type, BTW). Don't know why. Maybe because the years of anticipation/frustration made me lose momentum as far as they were concerned. Very sad to hear they're officially no more. They were much more fun than Stereolab, to whom they were sometimes compared.
