sean g, Saturday, 6 September 2003 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry ill do a serious list no long ting but the lil flip verse on rainbow colours and 'see the horns on my head like they call me devil and i pack heavy metal so what the fuck you gone settle?' are 2 of my favourites. wiley's verse on too far doesnt count except for in my logic

sean g, Saturday, 6 September 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah trife say something on the nappy roots thread i made!

sean g, Saturday, 6 September 2003 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

the first few. bad answers, but i'm tired, might elaborate later:

most of "theme from fannypack" ("jumpin in a puddle 'n")
all of big boi on "flip flop rock"
dizzee on "lucky star" ("what you know about boiling a kettle for a bAHHRth?")

(fairly odd, semi-recurrent quasi-theme of the 03 verse: tom cruise. kanye mentions him in "through the wire" AND "the good, the bad and the ugly", he gets referenced in "flip flop rock". any more?)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i feel like i've heard about 5 '03 rap songs all year and i just keep referencing those.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:27 (twenty-two years ago)

jigga on 50's if i cant remix: 'im just telling the truth, you tom cruise'

one of the st lunatics on the ali song: 'that big dick dude that flip kick fools like tom cruise'

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

btw mitch none of your songs are rap songs

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

sean where is your nappy roots thread? i havent heard the new one but i like the first album ok

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:30 (twenty-two years ago)

As a former chinchilla owner, the recurrent rhymes about chinchilla fur really bother me.. and why is everybody rapping about thundercats?

Sonny A. (Keiko), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

new jadakiss/cassidy song samples the transformers theme!!!

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

seven i can think of this minute

7) lady ice on any bonecrusher song
6) kim/twista on thug luv
5) drag-on - holla at ya boy ('i got a tab bigger than that fat nigga from cheers!!')
4) pastor troy on the david banner song yeah
3) consequence on the kayne mix
2) 50 - many men and u not like me
1) nas - i can!!

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i wish nas sounded a little less bored on the trackmasters "dy-na-mi-tee" remix (which i recommend otherwise, it's pretty)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

what do you think of i can ?!?

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I think we should be posting the verses we pick:

"Ya'll niggas dreamed it, I have seen it
Body warm, heart anemic (I really mean it)
Coke, a nigga steamed it, fiends I leaned 'em
Beemer leaned it (I really mean it)
Guns, really beaming, rarely miss, what's really good?
Bikes, wheelie and creamin' (I really mean it)
I'm a genius, poppadopalis, never leaning
On your Zenith (I really mean it)
Killa, bury more mutts, they actually all ducks
Caddy more trucks, its daddy Warbucks
And you Orphan Annie
Ma, take off your panties
Sea soft and sandy (I really mean it)
Yeah, let's get lost in candy
I got lost in Boston, Austin, flossin' of course Miami
Reno, Nevada sip pino colada
Mama I'm seen on the Prada (I really mean it)
I rock more in Phoenix road to glory
Seen it, you seen it (I really mean it)
The game abuse it, its pain in music
But this year, wrist wear remains the bluest
I get lame and lose it, beef came to do it
Aim and shoot it, flames 'til your brains the fluid
Ya'll just kids, see what I just did, take a couple bars off
Let Just live"

- Cam'ron's first verse on "I Really Mean It" (although I'm really torn between that one and his 2nd verse, which contains the lines: "Golly I'm gully, look at his galoshes
Gucci, gold, platinum plaque collages
From collabos, ghost writing for assholes")

now lessee, 6 more...

Al (sitcom), Sunday, 7 September 2003 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

and at the moment my favorite Kanye verse is the one at the end of his remix of the "la la la" remix of "Excuse Me Miss", especially the first few lines:

"she hate when I'm name droppin'
So when I talk rap, she gon' change topics
But I got a plan B that's planned out,
for when things don't pan out
Hov, tell her ya my brother, I'm'a play shy brother
So you take the Destiny Child girl in the Coupe
Then I'ma try bag the ones that got kicked out the group"

Al (sitcom), Sunday, 7 September 2003 04:40 (twenty-two years ago)

the taller Ying Yang dude's verse on "Naggin", mainly for the part that goes "shoo fly, don't bother me -- will I get back with her? probably".

Al (sitcom), Sunday, 7 September 2003 04:50 (twenty-two years ago)

malice from "blaze of glory"

"I'm for that hit rich quick shit, for that quick lick
For that quick Vick fucka, I ain't for the bullshit"

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 7 September 2003 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

7. Tony Yayo dissing Ja Rule from prison. While Tony was selling crack Ja Rule was ringing doorbells. Because he was a Jehovah's Witness, and not a real thug.
6. Peedi Crakk on 'Ring the Alarm.' ('Far as the change, just bustin' my checks. Duckin' my ex, gettin' shermed up in the Lex.')
5. Lil Flip on 'Ridin' Spinners.'
4. Freeway - 'Victim of the Ghetto.'

d k (d k), Sunday, 7 September 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

3.

Twista on 'Poppin' Tags':

It's a party when I go up in the sto'
Shoppin while I'm zooted off the dro'
Rollin' like a nigga that just came up on a mill'
And I got 'em sweepin and pickin up tags off the floor
Bag full of clothes, I remember havin' rocks in the hall
On the glimmer with the glock by the ball
Serving up a jab and working security six to six
Then it's straight from the block to the mall
Now what's on the wall? Go ahead and treat yourself
When you come up on some cheddar better pop that tag
Like when I dip off in the Prada, then I go off
To the lot, lay the paper down and cop that Jag
I got a console full of ammunition and funds
Mink Roc-a-Wear and some guns
Pretty in a fresh pair of jumps, blo-packs and Bo Jacks
And Air Maxes, throwback some ones, no max for none
I'm a baller and if you want it come and get it now
And the Twista kinda wicked when I spit it now
I be choppin' up cheddar with Kanye
Chop a little cheddar up with Jay
Chop it up with the O-to-the-Kizay
Poppin' big tags with the flow and the dough, we get busy!

d k (d k), Sunday, 7 September 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, I had trouble picking a Twista verse...he's good on the Tags remix w/ Luda too. I think I'll go w/ his verse on the Like A Pimp remix, though, just because it's nice to hear someone fast on that beat.

Al (sitcom), Sunday, 7 September 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

1.

Shawnna on 'Growing Pains':

It used to be all good when we played Double Dutch in the hood
On the softball team I was swinging that wood
I remember eating Kool-Aid and sunflower seeds
Jelly shoes, hair braided with a thousand beads
Mama sitting on the porch 'til the lights come on
And when I woke up in the morning and my bike was gone
I was sick to my stomach, couldn't eat for days
Sweeping beauty shops, saving, making minimum wage
Then I copped the ten speed and got back on my feet
A whole pack of girls riding twenty deep in the street
We playing catch a boy, freak a boy, switching up the rules
A summertime splash party get you in the pool
Ladies if you feel it, holla back, if you with me
Shout my girls Keya, Tony Mack, Jalay, Nikki
This for all them hood parking lots in every city
Ludacris, Face, Lil Fate, Shawnna, you with me

d k (d k), Sunday, 7 September 2003 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 9 September 2003 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

rosco p. coldchain on "freestyle" (hazardous life: the mixtape):
now I know how snoop felt that day
when he was slumped down in the seat and the judge asked him did he have any comments to make
attempted murder is the case and they tryin to get me
now that I think back I was better off killin him
these crackers tryina root me and give me a quarter to life
I haven't even lived a quarter of my life
quite unfortunate, right? (right!) wrong! (wrong? why?)
there's a million niggaz in different hoods singin the same song
last week I had two of my closest friends die and it hurts to see them gone
and it's fucked up but [something] death is the only way I can mourn
and when it rains it pours and I'm weathering the storm
I got my steel it's my umbrella brother
32 shots falling acid raindrops on these motherfuckers
once I drizzle I'll chisel your brainknot
I'm not tryina question the lord but when will the pain stop
(then he just starts talking:) yeah, when you sittin all alone in your crib
in your little house and shit your little haven your little home
and you hear that little noise and you think it's a mouse a rat a roach or your house settlin
naw, man, think again, man
it's a nigga comin through your motherfuckin back door
your motherfuckin front window
or maybe even through the front door
but however you look at it, we in your crib man
I'M IN YOUR CRIB MAN

add akrobatik on first verse of "hypocrite"
luda in "act a fool" (girl hold your weave while I'm weavin thru traffic)
busta on "light your ass on fire" with all the "hmmm"s, best he's sounded in a while

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 9 September 2003 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah and the sir mix-a-lot verse on 'big johnson' where he talks about how his dick is only average-sized so he's gotta go shopping for sex toys.
