jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

"Sister Ray."

hstencil, Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

"autobahn"

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

heh.

hstencil, Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

there i go again.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

naw that made me laugh because that's a good choice, too.

hstencil, Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i guess if i had to choose one of the above it'd be "sister ray"...i love "hallogallo", but neu! never sounds like what they're supposed to in my head when i actually sit down and put the records on.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

"Autobahn" is definitely a kindred spirit, but all four songs I chose go 1-2-3-4-5-6 on one chord, and then 7-8 on another chord.

Last night at a party, a DJ played "Hallogallo" and it sounded great, which is why I started the thread.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

(Not that that's my pick. I like all of 'em, actually.)

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

33+ minute "Hydro"! (it's not the best, but it's what i want to listen to most of all right now)

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 7 September 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Sister Ray. Though I dig Jenny.

who did Radio On? or is that a reference to the Modern Lovers' Roadrunner?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 7 September 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, whoops. I meant "Roadrunner," obv.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 7 September 2003 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I prefer Roadrunner to Jenny, but Sister Ray still reigns supreme. Whip it on me, Jim!

Haven't heard Hallogallo in a loooong time.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 7 September 2003 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Fireball, by Ducks Deluxe.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 7 September 2003 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Sister Ray..the Joy Division version

brg30 (brg30), Sunday, 7 September 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I love Roadrunner, but my ideal driving-in-my-car-tune-of-all-time is Hallogallo (not "with my radio on", cuz I ain't nevered heard it on the radio).

peepee (peepee), Sunday, 7 September 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh, I've heard it on the radio, on the Northwestern Univ. station.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 7 September 2003 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Madonna, "Ray of Light"

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Sunday, 7 September 2003 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

god the one time I tried to drive to Sister Ray I was so tense I almost swerved off the road. It's waaaaay too stimulating for driving. In a drivin' mode I'd pick Roadrunner.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 7 September 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

"hallogallo", followed closely by "fur immer"... driving music par excellence.

steve, Monday, 8 September 2003 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Six or seven years ago I was in some club where somebody put on the full-length album version of "Jenny Ondioline" over the soundsystem at maximum volume and I swear I started hallucinating, it was so good.

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 8 September 2003 05:16 (twenty-two years ago)

The 'guitar tape' bootleg of "Sister Ray" is amazing, so I pick that.

Hayden Nicholls (Pop the Weasel), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

What Goes On kicks Sister Ray's ass. So, by that token, I'm going to have to go with Hallogallo. Actually, no, I'm going to go with Jenny Ondioline cause it's got bored French chick girlie vocals on it, which automatically makes anything better.

kate (kate), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw, just like Sister Ray sounds!

I pick Roadrunner.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 8 September 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Roadrunner forever! Especially the second version!

roadrunner > sister ray = hallogallo > jenny ondioline

illegal bodies would go in there as another down-step between SR/HG and JO

with the radio on

Not sure what "Sister Ray" is doing on this thread

Tommy McTommy (Tom D.), Saturday, 29 June 2013 16:05 (twelve years ago)

Oh I see, "Radio On" is "Roadrunner"

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Saturday, 29 June 2013 17:56 (twelve years ago)

Sister Ray >>>>> Roadrunner > Hallogallo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jenny Ondioline

Not that I dislike "Jenny Ondioline" but, well, you know.

10zing blogay (seandalai), Sunday, 30 June 2013 02:06 (twelve years ago)

Jenny Ondioline for for me, but then Stereolab is one of my all time favorite bands and it is their magnum opus. I know the other tunes are more "classic" or foundational or whatever, but I gotta go with my heart.

I thought Radio On was a reference to the film (possibly the best soundtrack of any film ever)

I'd never heard of Jenny Ondioline before i saw this thread

I have been haunted the last few nights by visions of some band covering Portishead's The Rip as a 15 minute motorik epic
