Oates could simply, easily take Andrew Ridgely.

Favorite song: the Oates-sung "Cold, Dark, and Yesterday," which gives the lie to the haters who claim he's a mustachioed Andrew Ridgeley.

I have a giant "wall tapestry" of the H2O album cover. And I've been known to holler in excitement when Hall & Oates comes on the radio/over a PA.
I met a guy from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia who collected Hall & Oates stuff. He had multiple pressings of every album, from different countries, cassettes, CDs, etc.

NO CAN DO
― am0n, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 20:21 (eighteen years ago)
you need everything from Voices through Big Bam Boom, then work your way backwards to Abandoned Luncheonette. Chuck or someone can advise you from there.
― Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 21:27 (eighteen years ago)
big bam boom is almost psychedelic in its 80'sness
― artdamages, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 22:35 (eighteen years ago)
don't ever tell David Crosby that you can get psychedelic with Fairlights and syndrums.
― Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 23:38 (eighteen years ago)
don't listen to these guys unless you have a lot of money... you should just get a big 2cd greatest hits.. the albums really aren't all that
― winston, Thursday, 17 January 2008 02:48 (eighteen years ago)
as much as i love them, the only 2 albums i actually enjoy the whole way through are H2O and Private Eyes. you're probably fine w/a greatest hits though.

Has anyone heard of this album Daryl Hall did in 1969 with a band called Gulliver?
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/315844TN9ML._AA240_.jpg
I've really flipped over this. Why? Because it's like this hybrid of what was popular blues-influenced British rock and roll in the late 60's turned into something more tuneful, i.e. it's like late era Beatles. Over half the songs were written without Hall's involvement, but they're great songs and to hear them sung by Hall with his fantastic voice, I just think it's incredible. Certainly a stylistic void not filled by any of the Hall & Oates releases.

Donald Hall. I was imagining the two of them doing readings as a duo.

Okay, I find it so hard to believe that Oates is the way he is. I watched all the music videos but for some reason he just comes off as a happy playful man with a big mustache and it makes no fucking sense. What the hell is going on. I thought I was part of the 80s but this just boggles my mind like no thing. Do people really act like that? And if the do, is it awesome? It's hard to tell. It's so strange to me with Mr. Mustache doing kartwheels while the coolest soul song is going on in the background. He just bobbles along and is suddenly is soul's greatest forefather... ug I don't understand, why, why, UG, he is teasing me with his mustache and great music, how is it fitting, why d
― CaptainLorax, Saturday, 9 February 2008 10:37 (eighteen years ago)
you have to admit that watching oates in any of the videos is like seeing an alternate universe.
― CaptainLorax, Saturday, 9 February 2008 10:38 (eighteen years ago)
shit, I don't get it. I'm watching maneater right now. how the fuck does he do that. what planet are they from?
― CaptainLorax, Saturday, 9 February 2008 10:50 (eighteen years ago)
maybe I'm just excited that they can spazz out like that when they dance and get away with it.
― CaptainLorax, Saturday, 9 February 2008 11:04 (eighteen years ago)
OK I need the whole discography. I didn't realize they had songs like Intravino. Not to mention Out of Touch is the best feeling in the world. I had an awesome dream and I found out why John Oates doesn't care if he acts stupid when he dances silly with his big mustache.
