Yeah I dont like it either, only person I knew who ever went to that was from Loughton, which says it all really. Goddamn Loughton!

It is poor. It's the only classical music my dad listens to - "They play some great music last night of the proms you know." Well, why don't you watch the other 2,000 proms this year then, hmm?

And the flag waving! Patriotism is surely only for those with a thorn in their side!

oh god it pisses me off NO END that the one prom which is turned into a national institution and which people pay any attention to is the one dominated by abysmal classical music lite. That said, the Massinet piece Leila Josefovich played this year was very good, and its impact completely undercut by Angela Gheorghiu hollering out the Habanera.

Thom, do you live above the Albert Hall?

five years pass...

Thought Bryn Terfel was terrific on Saturday. In some cases a better performance than the music deserved.

The Anna Meredith dissonant multiple link-up piece was great too and didn't get booed off by the Nazi/p43do "Promenaders" either which must be a first. Terrible title though.

I loved the sullen faces at Glasgow Green refusing to join in with "Rule Britannia."
