(this is what a friend of mine wrote in an email:)

"If Black Flag ever decide to tour America and/or not do benefits for cat rescue organizations, think twice before dropping $30+!

I saw them last Friday at their sold-out "first four years" show in
L.A. The 2 opening bands, 1208 and The Rats = yuck. When Black Flag
finally went on there was Greg Ginn, Dez, a drummer, and the singer from the first band, The Rats (the guy's name is Mike Vallely). Dez was all, "We billed this as the first 4 years, but guess what we're going to do MY WAR." So they did about 20 minutes of the record and people looked horrified (unless they had the bars tattooed on them because they seemed to be the only dedicated BF fans) and some people threw garbage at the stage and eventually the whole concert hall was full of booing. Boo!!! So the band stopped playing and did all this rearranging and then huddled together like a pack of football players. So then they get back in position and Dez dropped the guitar and took over lead vocals and Robo was on drums and they had a bass player and/or a recorded bass tape. They finally did first four years material and also some other 'treats' including TV Party, which Dez admitted he didn't know the words to but he did throw in "Queer as Folk" as one of the tv shows. The show was kind of half-assed and misrepresented/shrouded in secrecy so of course most of the fans were pissed off. Someone argued that they did have 3 original members so it wasn't a complete ripoff...true, but it just wasn't what I thought it'd be. "

HAHAHA, this all sounds like one of the "wrong" Mr. Bungle shows, or some type of agitating performance art.

At least the kitties now have cash!

best "wrong" Mr. Bungle show (actually now that I think about it, it was a Faith No More show), at the Warfield in SF, openers were THE ZIP CODE RAPISTS (feat: gregg turkington & jon singer), this was uttered:

GT: "How many of you are ready to PARTY?!?!?!"

CROWD: "YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

GT: "Get a life you fucking junky alcoholics."

later....

GT: "Any ladies wanna GET DOWN TONIGHT!?!?!?!?"

CROWD: "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH!!"

GT: "You're all a bunch of fucking sl*ts"

I mean, it was like 90-91 and this was like MTV heavy rotation Faith No More's homeshows at like one of the biggest theaters in town. Okay, it's not so funny, but I have a tape of the ZCR opening set and it cracks me up. *ahem* anyways, how about that Greg Ginn, boy howdy!

Stolen from another forum:

"Anyway kids, it was DEZ singing but boy oh christ oh mighty, it was TERRIBLE. It's hard to explain why it was so bad, but it just lacked so much... 3,000 people walked out of that place looking totally devastated... there was people who had come from the UK JUST for that gig (not us, luckily, haha)... from Las Vegas, Philadelphia... it was sooooo bad... terrible... they should be playing holidays in the sun... total going through the motions (plus terrible sound) bullshit.. it was good to see it for real, dispell the myth about it all for ourselves, you know?"

all I have to say is when Rollins toured doing Flag songs to raise money to save three wrongly accused human beings from the death penalty, he attacked the set like a fat kid attacks cake, rocked his ass off and sweated out of his eye balls. Music and sound were top notch and it was worth the money. You decide who is cooler.
