ok this is e40s goofiest verse ever, in a good way, but the beat is like a sharp-cornered glass city made from the broken remains of excuse me miss, and yo has busta been picking some golden remixes this year or what!!

The beat is bollocks, really average.

While Busta is second only to Ludacris for outstanding remix appearences.

Busta's been having a hella good year period (except his show here in Lexington a couple weeks ago k-sucked - his performance was great but there was only like 500 people there wtf?).

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 18 September 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

(reply to Scott, before I saw Nick's post)

but Busta's such an absurd remixaholic, especially the past year...Never Scared, Get By, So Gone, Like A Pimp, Get Low, Gimme the Light...he's just out of control. I haven't heard this one, though.

Trife,
i had to go back and check that beat cos you made it sound a hell of a lot better than it really was.

Luda's performance on the Amerie and Nas remixes have totally changed my opinion on his skills. Busta is just getting on my nerves...overkill.

he brought his A-game for the get by remix though. everyone did- that remix is outstanding just for the fact that it puts mos & kweli on the same record as jigga & busta, thus giving all the indie-vs-mainstream-and-never-the-twain-shall-meet kids fits

rob geary (rgeary), Saturday, 20 September 2003 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah busta has always had such an unsurmountable iron curtain up against the underground

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 20 September 2003 01:11 (twenty-two years ago)

e-40 is great on this trife! he's a lunatic

rob geary (rgeary), Saturday, 20 September 2003 01:51 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah totally his verse is so silly!!

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 20 September 2003 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

He would kind of have to be a lunatic if this is his goofiest verse ever, he's set the bar so very high

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 20 September 2003 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

trife what does this mean:
"busta has always had such an unsurmountable iron curtain up against the underground"
i dunna get it

rob geary (rgeary), Saturday, 20 September 2003 03:18 (twenty-two years ago)

busta has done songs with mos, slum village, kardi, pharoahe monch, i dont think a talib remix was tearing down any hiphop barriers!!

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 20 September 2003 03:39 (twenty-two years ago)

What song did he do with Kardinal?

d k (d k), Saturday, 20 September 2003 03:42 (twenty-two years ago)

oh you're right trife. what i meant was that the remix in question seemed like a nexus of "underground" mcs (kweli and mos, i put underground in quotes because they are pretty well known) meeting up with "mainstream" mcs (jigga and busta, again in quotes b/c i know jigga is a true head and busta obviously is beyond categories. both have had chart success/pop recognition beyond the blackstar kids though) all mediated by a producer who has excellently traveled in both circles (kanye). erm i've lost my own train of thought here but what i mean is that "underground" and "mainstream" mcs tend to talk to each other, respect each other and even appear on each other's records more than 'indie' or 'pop' heads might want them too. ancillary point, busta and jay-z's flows on that remix are amazing (and actually kind of heartbreaking!) and it's just one of busta's many good guest verses this year.

rob geary (rgeary), Saturday, 20 September 2003 03:53 (twenty-two years ago)
