Where do you guys think the stripped-down Let It Be set for release this November will place in the upcoming Pazz & Jop?

Uh...Beatles or Replacements? Either way, it won't place at all.

signed,
one of the poobahs.

p.s.) Laibach, on the other hand...

This is a question that has troubled me for years.

Beatles. But I'd still bet that it will make the top forty because so many people hate the Spector production on the original that they might champion this version as a superior alternative.

Chuck: Just out of curiosity, where do you see the Cat Power and New Pornographers records (my two favorites so far this year) placing?

Josh Timmermann (Josh Timmermann), Friday, 19 September 2003 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Well below Bubba Sparxxx and Brooks & Dunn, if I have anything to say about it. (Which I don't, but hey, chads are chads, you know?)

Actually, I bet New Pornographers will beat Cat Power. Who will suffer from a split vote with Wesley Willis (they're pretty much the same band, right?)

haha!

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 19 September 2003 01:11 (twenty-two years ago)

new pornographers will beat cat power easy

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 19 September 2003 01:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Honest Ta God, it's ultimately just a remix. Doesn't count as new work at all.

Dock Miles (Dock Miles), Friday, 19 September 2003 01:40 (twenty-two years ago)

chuck - why did they get rid of the reissues category?

I really want to see Chan Marshall start headbutting people now.

I almost clotheslined her once!

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 19 September 2003 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

did you say beforehand, "I'd hit it"?

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 19 September 2003 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Dock it doesn't matter, reissues count

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 19 September 2003 02:11 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, if the new Jay-Z or Strokes albums suck then I'm putting Southside Movement's Moving South at #10

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Friday, 19 September 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

>Dock it doesn't matter, reissues count.

Oh, God, ya right.

Nevertheless, resolved to vote sanely long ago. So insane restrictions are ignored.

Dock Miles (Dock Miles), Friday, 19 September 2003 04:18 (twenty-two years ago)

>chuck - why did they get rid of the reissues category?\<

more categories = more work?? but mainly, reissue winners were almost always a combination of huge rhino box sets and silly indie-cult heroes (a la os mutantes/lee hazelwood) and some mc5 or bowie that never really went away in the first place. in other words, it was the dullest category ever. personally, i miss voting for EPs way more. (but as michaelangelo says, all of the above are eligible as albums.)
