Is there a reason for us to have an Australian Marilyn Manson with songs by Pat Benatar? Please explain.

SUCK SUCK SUCKOLA

for the love of sweet crumbcake

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 September 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if he'll survive the Marilyn support without being sliced, diced and set alight?

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 September 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

hope not

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 September 2003 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

We saw them at the Hopetoun. It was a laugh a minute - like an LA glam band playing to a smattering of Warner executives. That singer looks like he's come straight off his mother's milk to sing songs about the highs and lows of a debauched life. He has no lines or edges in his face and you just cannot believe he knows the dark side.

Those guys are a MELBOURNE BAND?

Right thats it, I'm just nipping out the back to shoot meself.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 22 September 2003 05:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Sweet jesu, he's from Dandenong.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 22 September 2003 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

So is Melbourne better than Sydney still?

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 September 2003 05:22 (twenty-two years ago)

no, hasn't been for ages (music wise, anyway)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 September 2003 05:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Melbourne still has too many goths. But hey, you can't have everything...

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 22 September 2003 05:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought everyone in the band had some kind of musical future except for Mandy himself.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 September 2003 05:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Sydney needs some more venues...

steve, Monday, 22 September 2003 06:05 (twenty-two years ago)

As for Mandy Kane, I don't think anyone much is fooled by that sort of stuff. He's about ten years too late.

steve, Monday, 22 September 2003 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

So why is he bankrolled by Warners then? I mean, someone's not getting it. I hope it's not me.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 September 2003 06:10 (twenty-two years ago)

That's a very good question. Obviously they think there's someone who's going to buy it, otherwise they wouldn't bother. I can't recall any other examples of this kind of stuff taking off in Melbourne so I have my doubts...

steve, Monday, 22 September 2003 07:33 (twenty-two years ago)

We got rudely kicked out of their band area where we were having a quiet drink. I must admit it prejudiced us a little.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 September 2003 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Well you shouldn't have been in there you silly cunt.

Common Sense, Monday, 29 September 2003 04:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Not for nothing are you called Common Sense.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Monday, 29 September 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

six months pass...
I THINK ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE FULL OF SHIT. MANDY HAS A TALENT UNLIKE ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT ARE JUST SITTING THERE ON YOUR ASSES. SO WHAT IF YOU PRICKS DONT LIKE HIM. I DONT LIKE BRITNEY SPEARS BUT YOU DONT SEE ME GOING AROUND MAKING HATE WEBSITES AND SAYING SHIT ABOUT HER ON A WEBPAGE!!! IF YOU DONT LIKE HIM THEN DONT LISTEN TO HIM, READ ABOUT HIM OR WATCH HIM. WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO POINT OUT THAT WE'RE NOT LIKE YOU? SO WHAT WE DONT WEAR YOUR CLOTHES, LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC, OR ACT LIKE YOU. WE'RE NOT TRYING TO MAKE A STATEMENT, WE'RE JUST TRYING TO BE DIFFERENT, UNLIKE THE REST OF YOU PEOPLE THAT JUST FOLLOW ONE ANOTHER!

Bianca, Monday, 12 April 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Another person to make Melbournites feel ashamed

Jedmond (Jedmond), Monday, 12 April 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha his $700K album sold less than 1000 copies in its first week

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 12 April 2004 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

'fewer', jim, not 'less'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 12 April 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

my point still stands: "ha ha"

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 12 April 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Mandy Kane's a guy?

Sasha (sgh), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 01:37 (twenty-one years ago)

In the tradition of Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

How fucking awful was "Stupid Friday"? Even the name sounds awkward.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 03:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Bianca - I've been involved in the goth/glam scene myself for along time, and even the most innovative and original people I know think Mandy Kane is embarrasingly trite. Sorry, darl.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Admittance! Trayce admitted she's a goth!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, Trayce, a goth/glam friend of mine says 'necro', meaning cool. Have you heard this expression?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha goth? I didnt! I said ... oh sod it.

Necro meaning cool? God, not among anyone I know. It sounds like something younger noobie Mansonite gothkids might say maybe? Most "goths" I know are 25-45 and are programmers and lawyers.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes this is a younger man, about 22 years old. It's not an expression my older gothic acquaintances would use. They would probably say, 'good'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Or "yea verily, this is excellent my liege".

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Or perhaps, "Indeed, it doth please me greatly".

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Or simply, 'Zounds, that is a true hit, sir, a palpable hit'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:47 (twenty-one years ago)

three years pass...
