Pure Pop for Now People

For my iPod: Recommend me some perfect pop from the past 20 years that I probably haven't heard (no big hits, I mean). You know, stuff that would sit nicely beside the Go-Betweens, The La's, Heavenly (of the "Le Jardin De Heavenly" period), Crowded House, The Sundays, etc.

I hope Geir isn't the only one who responds.

Lida Husik's _Joyride_ or _Fly Stereophonic_
some tracks may be a bit 'mopey' or dark-themed but what's pop, is perfectly so.

Beatnik Filmstars and Bomb Pops have a couple great songs I've been repeating lately.

I like the first Papas Fritas album.

"What Makes It Go" Komeda

I'll throw in a second for this. Five or six years on, I still pull this out about once a season and play it three times in a row.

And lessee... the Allen Clapp album Availabe Light from last year has been real addictive for some of us who love our soft 70s sugar-pop. The album goes after a perfect "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"/Carpenters mood and succeeds, I think.

And my favorite album of 2002, Stew's The Naked Dutch Painter and Other Songs is chock full of beautiful stuff. I was kind of obsessed with it for awhile.
