Howard Jones' "Hide & Seek" - Classic or Dud?

While I used to be a huge fan of him in the mid 80s, a lot of his work hasn't quite held up with time. However, there is one work of his that I still love everytime I listen to it, and it is the beautiful and atmospheric "Hide & Seek". Still one of the best examples of 80s synth music I can imagine.

Anybody else like this track?

I don't know that one... I've always been partial to "I'd Like to Get to Know You Well," used to marvelous effect in "Better Off Dead." I'll seek this out.

i used to love that song - it's the one with the chorus "hope you find it" etc. ??? it kind of serves to highlight his weaknesses as a vocalist though - lots of long, drawn out notes which are kind of lifeless. but yeah it's pretty. i probably wouldn't get too into it these days

Maybe the thread died the first time around because ron was so fully OTM there's not much left to say.

In any case, there are a few HJ songs I'd rank above H&S:

New Song >>> What is Love? > Things Can Only Get Better > Everlasting Love* > H&S = No One Is To Blame >>> everything else

*Admittedly, I like EL for idiosyncratic reasons -- mostly for the interesting things that happen metrically when the chorus becomes a canon near the end.
