I would have to agree with this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 27 September 2003 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this has been done before, but yes. The Coog. Though Born In The U.S.A. is prime not-Coog Coog.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 27 September 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

we're gay, but Br(y)an needs a "liberation front"? and one that's up the bitch?

that seems contradictory.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 27 September 2003 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

All I am saying is that Brian Adams is the single most important songwriter in the history of recorded music.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 27 September 2003 23:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Bryan Adams may disagree.

Coogs, 24/7.

Bruce is too stiff, and the production on this albums...ugh!

You people are all insane.

I'll give you Lonesome Jubilee, a totally fantastic record (the Lisa Germano addition was sublime). And there is a reason Kenny Aronoff always won those "best drummer" polls. Springsteen's group, by contrast, was fairly mediocre.

But come on.* Springsteen has always been so much more consistent (he came screaming out of the gate, unlike Cougar's myriad missteps). His songs are just better, with a wider scope and broader range of moods; and frankly he had much more ambition and willingness to morph his sound in interesting ways (and please don't try to foist Johnny's lame grunge/Reznor/Gaines crap as a counterexample). Moving from the culminating triumph of his 70s sound that was The River; to the unexpected, potentially career-savaging follow-up of Nebraska; to the bombastic, 80s-production sheen of Born in the USA; to the inward-looking Tunnel of Love is a four-album burst unrivalled by any American artist save for his idol, Dylan.

Live, he is an unbelievably tireless performer. The legendary "marathon concert" thing is there for a reason; it's really not some perpetuated lame rock critic cliche. He'll convert you to the church of Springsteen.

* the Chicago Manual of Style now officially approves of starting sentences with conjunctions. And that's a fact. And did Johnny Cash ever cover any "Coog" songs? Did Manfred fricking Mann cover any "Coog" songs??? I don't think so.

Fucking Republican cocksuckers.

haha - no, actually, Indianapolis totally kicks ass. My brother and I drove down there a couple years back to watch the Lions get walloped by the Colts. The RCA dome is actually really cool! Totally intimate for a dome. Plus they have like this crazy beer garden underneath the stands.

Then we went and ate at St. Elmo steakhouse - outstanding!! And Peyton Manning was there! We totally saw him but didn't bother him about the Gators or serenade him "rockytop" or anything like that...

Then I went and bought a bunch of psych records from Stan Denski. Stan, if you google this, whatupski??!!

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 28 September 2003 07:38 (twenty-two years ago)

is Gene Hackman a republican?

Sonny A. (Keiko), Sunday, 28 September 2003 07:42 (twenty-two years ago)

cinniblount (James Blount), Sunday, 28 September 2003 07:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't see it

Sonny A. (Keiko), Sunday, 28 September 2003 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I never liked John Mellancamp growing up, but one time I was in a very large city eating breakfast in a cafe with a bunch of indie kids listening to a retro-80's station and when he sang "I was born in a small town" (I don't even remember which song that is) I nearly had a tear in my eye. I really respect him. I don't relate to Bruce but I'm not from where he's from.

Sonny A. (Keiko), Sunday, 28 September 2003 07:51 (twenty-two years ago)

So, you're from Indiana?

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 28 September 2003 07:53 (twenty-two years ago)
