Should I give a shit about Pete Yorn?

Should I even ask? I feel like I'm letting the terrorists win. I don't really know anything about him, except that for the past few years I haven't been able to walk two feet in New York without seeing his dorky face on a poster. (East Village Tower, I'm talking to YOU.)

Is he famous? Or is that just wishful thinking on the part of the music industry?

i've heard one song of his that i liked ("black") but it's certainly nothing to get very excited about.

no, he's not famous

brendan benson does this sort of thing way better and more likeably

Give not the slightest poo for him.

I dunno, I kinda like him. I guess it's easy to dislike him if you see/hear of him everywhere, but I got into his music hypeless and found it pretty fun. I guess download "Strange Condition", "Just Another", "Lose You", "Crystal Village", "Pass Me By" and his covers of "New York City Serenade" and "Dancing In The Dark".

But then again, I like Ryan Adams so my opinion might not have much weight around these parts.

That "Cuz It Already Is" song was actually kind of anthemic if faceless and there's a decent ballad on the Orange County soundtrack but his new stuff seems even more vacuous than his earlier stuff. His videos are what will make you want to sock him in the face. That and the endless ad campaigns for him. He's sort of like Evan Dando playing Ethan Hawke at the end of Reality Bites. Music IS feeling, babe.

His brother is an agent or something.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 6 October 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I like him. He's a got a real lazy vocal style a la Jay Farrar that I like and his songs are generally catchy with decent lyrics.

Mark M, Monday, 6 October 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Nice hair. Shame about the music.

If you like boring acoustic singer songwriter music that you'd hear in a coffeehouse or on NPR (and I don't mean Richard Thompson, who is a god (not THE God, but A god)) - you'll LOVE Pete Yorn.

while you shouldnt give a shit about him, you should download the track "simonize" which is a really gorgeous song that doesnt sound like any of his other songs. if it wasnt for the voice, i wouldnt believe it was him.

his first record was my jam in high school. i probably think the singles are still fire. just started thinking about "for nancy" and i've pretty much got the whole song in my head for the rest of the day.

One time I posted something marvelling at his continued career on Twitter as an offhand comment and he took the time to respond soon thereafter. He was understandably nettled but at the same time I was thinking "Look if you're just waiting around for your name to pop up randomly on Twitter..."

what dive bar / cafe has elementary school chairs. who wears boots like that with a zip hoodie. that photo contains a few pretty big 'leave now' signs.

Mr. Snroombes (mattresslessness), Wednesday, 20 January 2016 00:06 (ten years ago)

who is worse: the photographer or pete yorn? i'd lean photographer if they were actually trying, but maybe the photographer tried to get yorn to do something besides check his email but yorn wouldn't listen

My friend used to play in his band, and from what he told me, the guy been with a staggering amount of gorgeous actresses. Very, very impressive list, which I will not share here.
