As far as compilations go this is a very good one.
Are there any songs missing from the Flamin Groovies that i am missing that do not appear on this ???

yup, all but one of the roy loney-fronted songs are missing (i'm tempted to say 'all the good stuff', but that would be facile...though, on reflection, probably true).

Yeah, there's a bunch of cool stuff from the Roy Loney-era, although the band sounded quite different at that time. ("Teenage Head" is the one representative track--with Loney on vox--on that comp.) "Flamingo" and "Teenage Head" are both half-great, a touch spotty, but the same could be said of the Groovies' Sire LPs.

search: "Yesterday's Numbers," "City Lights," "Headin' For The Texas Border," "Whiskey Woman."

"Whiskey Woman" seconded. Go straight there.

The Roy Loney era fans have all spoken & in all fairness there is a really rockin 80 minute cd to be made of that era. However the"power pop" years are my favorite & yes there are afew more good tracks.I pretty much put together my own cd of these years.probably have listened to it more than any other cd ever. There is "sometimes & "She said yeah" off of "Shake Some Action".4 songs off of "Now"."Ups and Downs","Reminiscing',"Good Laugh Mun","Take Me Back".Off "Jumpin in the Night" there is "Next One Crying" & "Tell Me again"
And if you dig the Groovies check out the Barracudas. They were big Groovies fans & when the Groovies broke up singer Chris Wilson actually joined the Barracudas.Sadly he only sang a few songs & the Barracudas were never quite as wonderful as prime Groovies but still it was very entertaining in that garage/12 string guitar kind of way
I've got a nice 80 minute cd of them also.I'd be happy to share if you're interested. Both Groovies cd's & the Barracudas

re: 'really rockin 80 min cd' - camden records compiled a budget price cd in this vein ('yesterday's numbers') that combined 'flamingo' (minus 'roadhouse'), the entirity of the 'teenage head' album, 'rocking pneumonia' from the otherwise-fairly-meh 'supersnazz', and a few covers - if you're looking for a cheap way to check out their earlier stuff, it might be worth tracking down.

sixteen years pass...

This is such a killer comp. For years I'd only had the Teenage Head album and "Shake Some Action" on a few other comps, but I'm surprised how much of this I love. They got into some really good Byrdsian jangle at times, but with more energy.
