So I love the Dilute half of the new Dilute/Hella live split, and I wanna know what else I should get. I know they're Bay Area (gygax! to thread?) and hooked up with the 5RC crowd, but am ignant beyond that. MORE PLEASE!

I have grape blueprints etc. and it reminds me a bit of Gastr del Sol. All that crazy fingerpicking bears a vague resemblance to Minus the Bear and a bunch of Midwest post-rock bands (Castor, C-Clamp, American Football).

Check out the 54-40 or Fight! website for mp3s from Dilute's full-lengths (and while you're there you should also check out 31 Knots and Caesura, they're also pretty awesome).

the one time I saw them live I thought my head was going to melt. (a good thing)

when i traded jehu bootlegs with this guy from the bay area, he also sent me a dilute set that he had recorded. pretty amazing stuff. i haven't thought about it for a while, though--i think it's on a spindle somewhere at my mom's house.

hmm.

Yeh, I was just searching for this band on here the other day for anything more about them.

'Grape Blueprints...' is their best in my opinion, more controlled and the album flows really well from start to end. Its a very moving album, kinda split into two parts. If you like what you heard on the Hella split I'd reccommend this.

The Gypsy Valentine Curve is the other one of theirs that I have, seems a bit more poppy/upbeat. A bit less controlled, I don't listen to it anywhere near as much as Grape Blueprints.

One thing that really pisses me off about this band, is that they totally rip off my guitar style and the way I write guitar parts! I'm from middle-of-nowhere England, so unless they've been hanging around my studio recently...

Seriously, there are moments on Grape Blueprints that are so close to what I've written with my band (prior to hearing them) that I'm a tad worried about recording them or playing them live. Annoying.
