The thread for provocative statements

"OK Computer" would have been perfect and flawless had "Electioneering" and "Climbing Up The Walls" been replaced with "Optimistic" and "Knives Out". Besides, then they wouldn't have had to release their next two albums at all.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Geir is a genius.

(that's my provacative statement.)

hstencil, Tuesday, 7 October 2003 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i am almost up for agreeing, but replace "climbing up the walls" with "let down" and "knives out" with "you and whose army".

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Brandon Ross is one of the very bestest guitarists alive.

(my 'provocative statement'. didn't provoke anyone the last time)

The piano, while extremely versatile, has no personality.

God, you people, don't you have lives? How much time and effort are you wasting arguing about little pieces of plastic? Go out and take a walk in the sunshine! Paint a picture, read a book or something! Sheesh!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Jazz is musical masturbation with little to no worth, people only listen to it to pretend to be sophisticated, despite not really enjoying any of the soulless strictly-technical garbage that all jazz inherently is.

Pixies? More like SHITSIES! LOOOOOOOL^________^

Opera-vocals are emotionless and stupid.

John Coltrane? More like JOHN SHITTRANE! LOOOOOOOOL^_____^

I've always hated Kenny G, but the other day I got to attend one of his concerts, and it was just mindblowing! I'm starting to think that no one has heard his music, but just talk shit about him to be "cool" and because all their friends do. It's pathetic.

Music shouldn't be recorded, it should only be heard in live performances on REAL instruments (ie not idiotic crap like turntables)

Rap? HUUHUHUHUHUHU U FORGOT THE C!!

I stopped buying music once I got online, as I realized I could listen to all my favorite songs and classical music pieces in quickly downloaded midi-files.

Øystein Live-Evil (Øystein H-O), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

When listening to roots records, I prefer an amber to a bock or a stout.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Hip hop's just a bunch of guys shouting over samples of other people's tunes - whatever happened to real music?

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I've gone from being really sick of hearing electric guitars to being really sick of hearing synths.

earlnash, Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

"Electioneering" is one of the climactic moments on OK Computer. Without it the album would've fallen apart. FACT.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(I prefer provocative statements of TOTAL UNDENIABLE TRUTH.)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Primus is one of the best things to happen to pop music of all time. They are the anomaly, the random singularity, the butterfly-flapping-it's-wings in the old chaos theory cliche. When Pork Soda went platinum the foundations of pop culture trembled, if only a wee tiny bit. But they did.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

The widespread popularity of rap music signifies a shift in the direction of human evolution & culture in that it both reflects the acceleratingly-accelerating rate that slang is becoming definite language as well as demonstrates a growing ability in the "average" human to process language-based information with ever-increasing speed and accuracy.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

gage o (gage o), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

"There will never come a day when music journalists and musicians can agree on how to appreciate music. Even among the few journalists who are also musicians (or vice versa), there is an unspoken truth stating that when writing about music, one must approach as if he/she knows nothing of its construction, intent or value to other musicians. This is a necessary division, though both musicians and journalists must believe that the other's 'agenda' is fundamentally incorrect/inappropriate."
