aka garage sales?

and if so, is there a copy of "breakfast in america" by supertramp available at every single one of them?

hmmm.... sort of but they are not so common - a copy of that kylie album where she has that hat on with the hair coming out of the top of it is available over here instead.

Supertramp - no, not particularly. Leo Sayer's 'Endless Flight' is very common. I haven't seen a copy of 'The Best of Bread' for a while.

how about the babs streisandt record where she's wearing a superman t-shirt and no pants? that along with neil diamond's 'hot august night' album cover are freakier than fetish porn

stereo gold award hawaiian classics album with green cover from 72.
must have been heck of a cold winter - millions of copies sold all
over uk to conjur up that summery vibe we werent actually getting
in reality. hence littering of all 2nd hand record sales with said item.

We don't have enough yards so instead we all drive to a field and put our wares in the boot (trunk). They usually spill out onto tressel tables. These events are called car boot sales.

king of the carboot sales at the moment : 'carry on up the charts' by the beautiful south

joni, Wednesday, 8 October 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

car boot sales sound great.

england's fields vs america's lawns = a potentially interesting point of comparison?

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually they're not just in fields. They have them in cities too - in schoolyards and things.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

oh let me pretend you hobbits are always gathering in fields

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

at least whenever gandalf passes through the shire

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 10 October 2003 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I know. I sold that one for £370

About a year later, I found another one for £40 in Rec&Tape exchange, Camden. That went for £310. Both stateside.

Which was nice...

-BBC Overflow Car Park, Shepherd's Bush on Sunday mornings, where I found that legendary crate of Basic Channel 12s". I'm the guy wandering round with an armfull of AOR (not wearing designer speks pretending to know nothing about music - but I think they're getting hip to me now)
-2nd Uxbridge turn-off on the M40 on Saturday Mornings. It's too big to get around.
-I'd be on the look-out for those infrequent ones in the Home Counties or 30 miles outside any major cities for fresh picklings(Bristol, Leeds, Brighton, Manchester have all been cleanecd out).

stevem (blueski), Friday, 10 October 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Have bought many many great and pretty rare records at car boot sales but not for years and I don't have the patience for them anymore

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 10 October 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Looks kinda like a flea market, not so much a yard sale.
