King of Woolworths - anyone impressed?

King of Woolworths will release a debut album called Ming Star on Mantra Recordings on September. I have heard about 4 tracks so far, each with a different vibe, e.g one track was a very lush ambient organic track that is as good as Board as Canada, another was a dark and menacing track like Zan Lyons.

A new star is born in British electronic music - King of Woolworths even the dummies at NME had a small feature on KOW last week. The main behind King of Woolworths is Jon Brooks from Manchester.

Anyone impressed with what they have heard so far by King of Woolworths, hands up those will be checking out the album? do it as by the end of your KOW will be an important part of British electronic music, alongside other Mancunians such as A Guy Called Gerald and New Order.

Erm, no he won't. But anyway, quite good I reckon. As championed by Steve Lamacq and John Peel, no? Or am I not allowed to say that because they're meant to be shit?

John Kennedy and Mary Ann Hobbs - are the two biggest radio supporters of King of Woolworths. I don't listen to Lammo - so no idea.

I am the king of Woolworths. Earlier this year I went into a branch of Woolworths and bought a 3CD Blues set called BLUES BLUES BLUES, featuring c.54 tracks, some of them long, most of them good - for £3.99.

I also bought, from the same branch, a really ace Patsy Cline compilation - the best single-CD Clien collection I've seen - for the same price.

They were flogging other 3CD sets for £3.99 too, by the way. I resolved to go back next day and get the jazz one, which was not entitled JAZZ JAZZ JAZZ. I took the box up the counter, and the shop assistants spent 10 minutes discovering that these CDs were not present and they could not sell it to me after all. I was upset. But on the basis of the blues set, I still consider myself King of Woolworths.

I should hope not. I don't want to see that kind of garbage in there when I go for my Big Bargain Buys.

It's A great full length and a great repeat listen CD. The Stalker Song is so funny. Don't be put off by it
