"I don't know."

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I can smell what he's cooking.

Nick Mirov (nick), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

It doesn't matter if you can smell what he's cooking.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 10 October 2003 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

This would be a really good, simple idea for a thread if people took it seriously. I'm liking it a lot more than I was this time last year. I think it's a really good way for people to express themselves. I love it when it's noisy. I think I'm going to buy a Crass record and probably start a rock band!

Sonny A. (Keiko), Friday, 10 October 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

gaz (gaz), Friday, 10 October 2003 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

There are often plenty of things mixed in with rock that I like a bunch, but rock it self Is not the thing I like.

A Nairn (moretap), Friday, 10 October 2003 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I like it.

adaml (adaml), Friday, 10 October 2003 07:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I do like the rock. But what about the rock and roll?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 10 October 2003 07:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Not very much, no. Some of it is okay. Pretty boring in general.

oops (Oops), Friday, 10 October 2003 07:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I like it when it doesn't seem to be taking itself too seriously. And I like rock flavourings in other music.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 10 October 2003 07:41 (twenty-two years ago)

AC/DC's Highway To Hell. That rock's greater than Cheap Trick live at Budokhan and Frampton Comes alive fired together in a kiln at 500 C for 24 hours. As rock is the new rock, AC/DC reveal themselves as the grandaddy of all these new rock bands. Back In Black rocks rather hard as well, great riffs, and Brian Johnson does an exemplary job of replacing the irresistable and irreplaceable bad man Bon Scott. The riffs and rhythm work in Walk All Over You from HTH are particularly enjoyable. And seriously-wise, I expect they take themselves far less seriously than, say, Led Zeppelin. And they avoid drum solos.

mentalist (mentalist), Friday, 10 October 2003 07:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Not particularly. It's kind of dull.

cis (cis), Friday, 10 October 2003 08:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I like rock the way Peaches likes rock.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 10 October 2003 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

The best rock is what rock became when it could semi-legitimately be used to signify the ludicrously popular stuff that makes up the majority of my parents' record collection: Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac.

Perhaps.

Everything else: 60's rock (Beatles, Dylan, Stones et al), indie, glam, rock'n'roll etc. Well, that never seems like 'rock' to me.

Rock, as in AC-DC, The Darkness et al, always seems like a not very funny piss take of heavy metal. Passable, but not great.

It really bugs me when I read the old music writers blather on about when rock'n'roll became rock and rock vs pop.

Jim Robinson (Original Miscreant), Friday, 10 October 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i can smell the flavorings that are being cooked!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 10 October 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Friday, 10 October 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 10 October 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

People who drink beer like rock. Wait till you see dave q review Travis on Stylus next week.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 10 October 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I fell for music when I heard the rhythm guitars and drumming of the Beatles. And so it was a fairly easy and appealing move to dance, hip hop, electronica etc when made themselves aware to me. Makes it hard to understand why some people build barriers tween rock and rhythmic / percussive music.

mentalist (mentalist), Friday, 10 October 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I like it when it's a verb and not a noun.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 10 October 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)
