Who is Root Manuva?

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 10 October 2003 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Nonono, rapping was invented by Meredith Wilson in "The Music Man". <\IrritatingMusicalGeek>

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 10 October 2003 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought Chuck Eddy said it was invented by the chimney sweep in Mary Poppins or something like that (haven't read the book in awhile or maybe i'm completely imagining this - which would be odd)

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 10 October 2003 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Shit! I totally forgot "Stray Bullet" by Organized Konfusion!!!!

Is Root Manuva a Jamaican dancehall guy?

Who is Root Manuva?

The person people name-drop when they say they like UK hip-hop.

Jim Robinson (Original Miscreant), Sunday, 12 October 2003 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought Chuck Eddy said it was invented by the chimney sweep in Mary Poppins

Dick Van Dyke should be a Peaches song.

According to Ben Thompson's Ways of Hearing, Jimmy Saville says he invented turntablism in Ilkley in 1943.

Jim Robinson (Original Miscreant), Sunday, 12 October 2003 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

The 'Candy on Chrome' Lil Flip verse is my favorite ever. He sounds so super relaxed and happy. It sounds like he's doing a De La Soul guest verse or something.

Southside Gs ride nothing but red
You can ask Beavis, I get nothing but head
I drink so much I sleep with my cup in the bed
All I got to do is pop trunk to turn the heads
I'm on 84s and I'm acting bad
My paint job look like a Maxi pad
They call me Lil Flip- man, I thought you knew
I'm the first one to freestyle ten minutes on Screw
Me and Big T in the Escalade
Like Lil Troy it's a better way
I ride on chrome each and every day
Every song I get on get gettin radio play
I'm only eighteen, but my candy drip
If you got cavitis don't like your lips
And the Freestyle King is my nickname
I let my bumper kit hang, while I grip grain.

But, it's just so relaxed and cool. I've been listening to it over and over again.
