How many of your records would you buy back if your collection was stolen?

I'm sorry if there has been a thread about this before.

Well, here's a story.

On the way back to uni once, someone broke into the car and stole a bunch of stuff, including my stereo. The stereo had a copy of Velvet Underground & Nico in it - my favourite album. On arriving back at uni, I figured that there was no point waiting around and went and bought another copy.

A couple of days later my dad went back to where the car had been broken in to and wandered up a little alleyway and found, discarded, the VU CD. Some little toerag had decided that, although a bag full of my dirty washing was worth nicking, my favourite album ever should be chucked away, WHILE LEGGING IT FROM THE CRIME SCENE!!!!!

This is why I now have two copies of VU & Nico.

Only fools buy records. I would go steal all of mine again.

I'm really not sure. There's so much out there that I've never heard but want to that I'm not sure how much I'd spend on albums I know by heart. And though I'm unwilling to let go of the majority of my collection now, having it can be a burden sometimes. I'd be tempted to sigh "god's will" and just never have a big collection again.

i'd want to buy most of it back, but would probably settle for cdrs of a lot of stuff...also,a i could see myself buying new stuff i haven't heard rather than buying something i know well already...

Probably as few as 10...or maybe 20. Namely:

lou reed - new york
arab strap - mad for sadness (live, the high point in their career)
lee morgan - the sidewinder
john zorn - naked city (the one with batman)
prince - the hits/the b-sides (a 3-cds set actually)
luna - penthouse
explosions in the sky - those who...
inxs - greatest hits (or maybe I'd get that Rhino box-set)
papas fritas - building & grounds
keith jarrett - the köln concert
dave holland - not for nothin' + prime directive

...randomly listed

I had my collection stolen about 8 yrs ago (about 120-130), and I've since re-purchased a whopping 7 of them, and made cd-r copies of about 5
