Help remembering Band that sounded like a John Carpenter Sountrack

I heard a couple of tracks of an album by a band whose name I can't remember - Think it was a one word name.

Sounded like a John Carpenter soundtrack , nice dark synth washes,a few beats, don't remember any vocals, the tracks were both about 6-7 minutes long, maybe longer.

Its a recent album, and I heard it in Rough Trade a couple of months back.

I know its not much to go on, but can anyone help, I'll know the name when I hear it

i bet it's totally dopplereffekt, probably thinking of the tracks "z-boson" and "higgs mechanism".

I'm pretty sure you're thinking about the Eternals... You should check their Astropioneers lp, and especially the main them.

You are definitely not talking about MX-80 Sound, but you should check them out anyway, since they used to COVER John Carpenter music.

dopplereffekt - linear accelerator

Magic - Thanks very much Vahid, its been annoying me ever since I heard it and forgot to make a note of it - I must admit I didn't think it sounded much like the 7 Hurtz album though
Its now on my record list and I'll investigate the other suggestions as well, cheers all

i very much recommend the first 7 hurtz album although it's john carpenter in the tough electro mode of "Assault on Precinct 13" rather than the sort of wintry arpeggios of Halloween or Escape from New York. it also has very up-front beats and basslines which sometimes dominate the synths.

oh and the new 7 hurtz album isn't very good at all.

I doubt it's this but "Megablast" by Bomb the Bass sounds like the stuff off of John Carpenter's Assualt on Precinct 13.

one year passes...
apropos nothing, Unit Black Flight: Infiltration & Extraction is a pretty awesome homage to carpenter, especially the aop13 and efny soundtracks
