I have a nice piece of Keene art I bought offa Rough Trade.

Upstairs, in my bedroom, my copy of The Arizona Record sits patiently at the front of a stack of LPs, beneath my stereo.

The poster insert remains stuck to the wall of a room in my parents' house that used to be my bedroom.

Supposedly (there was a thread about this awhile back), Drag City is reissuing it along with tracks from the Silver Jews "demos" tape, which is one of my favorite things ever! (A few of the tracks made it onto the Arizona Record and the Dime Map of the Reef 7".)

I have the poster insert from "The Natural Bridge" up in my bedroom now... along with a panopoly of Neil Hagerty/Red Krayola-related posters. My room has become a Drag City shrine, though I didn't do it on purpose!

i had the opportunity to talk to d@n k0r3tsky and he mentioned the silver jews comp would be the first 2 EPs plus "bonus material". i specifically asked if it would be the trillion story walk up era "demos" and he replied no.

Someday my beloved demos cassette tape will wear out, and I'll be very sad!

And according to sources from Rising Shotgun posted recently on the SJBB (woot), Berman has recently begun recording demos for the follow-up to Bright Flight.

Only took six years, but I finally got this framed and mounted. It's one of several Steve Keene paintings that DCB acquired for the Arizona Record cover but ultimately rejected. There was a time in 2004 that it really paid to be a fan amongst the man on his unofficial message board, cause he mailed several different ones out to myself and a few other lucky early-responders to his offer there. The ironic thing is that when I originally received it I was framing paintings part-time, but because I slept on it, this particular job was one I had to pay someone else to do.

The ticket that the Michaels frame department clerk wrote up had the piece described as "Man on Horse."

I've never heard these before and they are crazy lo-fi! They're amusingly billed as remastered though.

I remember downloading "Dime Map of the Reef" off audiogalaxy back in the day, then spending two consecutive nights furiously searching for a "cleaner version". lol @ me

now that i think of it, it might not even be as hi-fi as a boombox. isn't some of this recorded on an answering machine?

The answering machine idea is mentioned in the press release, though not specifically in terms of these recordings. I could easily believe it though.

yeah, i might just be remembering bob nastanovich claiming they'd call up thurston moore's answering machine and play a whole album into it. does thurston still have the tapes!?

I'm warming to it on a second listen. First time round it was hard to get past the complete lack of fidelity. Is it crazy that it brings Jandek to mind for me at points?

Or the Frogs, but without the endless toilet humour.
