I sort of figured the "nerd" stuff Def Jux was into was things like Blade Runner and Akira and Kirby comix and other things that cross the nerd/cool divide. But "smart" = nerd too, I guess.

And as for all that, Def Jux/Eastern Conference Records has been beefing with 7L and Esoteric. I can't remember why Def Jux got dragged into it, but El-P's verse on Bazooka Tooth from "We're Famous" addresses it all, most importantly that he intially rejected Esoteric's demo. And it's a stellar song all around.

7L and Esoteric, their diss, the best part is after they rap, the commercial, it's hilarious.

In the nerd rap debate, I see Def Jux as the nerds that cool people associate with to get their test answers, while 7L and Esoteric are the nerds that no one will admit listening to.

Anyone saying Vast Aire isn't sick, you're a moron. He's all about mixing references and if you don't get each of the references, you won't understand vast. Just like Aesop - references!

"Ever since I came from the womb, I ran from the moon/ Niggas can't do shit, so I hit them with spoons." - the reference is from the american childhood story when the fork ran off with the spoon and jumped over the moon. It wasn't the most precise flow, but atleast a clever reference.
