think about it ... the dead, loverboy, dire straits, every grotty hippy seventies soft-rock outfit. what do they have in common? (1) they wear headbands. (2) their music sucks.

prove me wrong!

two exceptions -- (1) keith richards -- though the stones these days definitely suck. (2) jimi hendrix -- but he's dead.

dude. Loverboy totally rocked, especially on their second album Get Lucky(which unfortunately got more attention for its ass-highlighting cover). I'll totally admit the band looks HIDEOUS in their videos, but the songs are like Journey with a sense of humor and a bit more soul. I mean it.

And I think Dire Straits got a bit better when they put the headbands on! (though they're still pretty annoying)

ian mccullough never wore a headband, now did he?

Little Big Macher (llamasfur), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

some people don't have to wear accessories to look ridiculous.

um...I kind of like Dire Straits *hangs head in shame*

Yeah, Dire Straits were the first band I ever liked so I can't really bring myself to condemn them.

When Brian Robertson was in Motorhead he sported a headband, as well as other disco attire. They still sounded grebt, although Motorhead fans didn't take too kindly to the attire of the new guitarist. Does this prove you wrong? I repeat that their music did not suck - check 'Another Perfect Day', the only album with Robbie on it.

Oooh, though, I've got a better one - what about Jimi Hendrix?

Wearing a scarf as a headband can be very classic, though.

i forgot that the duranies wore headbands. and some rappers that i like -- eminem and nelly, to name two -- are also fond of headbands. then again, this is a rule of general application -- with exceptions!

Little Big Macher (llamasfur), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 04:04 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah, colin -- jimi hendrix (and keith richards) were specifically exempted. rule of general application and all.

Little Big Macher (llamasfur), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 04:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, here's another exception...

Are we making distinctions between headbands and bandannas?

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 04:15 (twenty-two years ago)

anyway, what with all these exceptions creeping into the analysis then i guess that this isn't an "iron rule" after all.

Little Big Macher (llamasfur), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Iron Clad exception #3: Neil Young.
OK, maybe - exception: Joe Walsh.
