What about FX? The ones you list just serve to demonstrate how brilliantly paced Black Sabbath albums were - epic der-ner-ner rawk, thirty seconds of acoustic guitar, and back to epic der-ner-ner rawk again. I am serious.

Late one night on public access TV, there was a porn movie with all of the sex edited out, so as to showcase the dialogue, acting, characters, and plot.

I was thinking of making a mix of Sabbath instrumentals, but then I remembered that movie and thought "eh, what's the point? It's already been done."

"Fluff" would surely be the worst of the lot, but it is redeemed by a very apt and knowing title.

"Solitude" has vocals, but it should be an honorary member of this category anyway, since it features that soothing "Black Sabbath snacking on turkey legs at ye olde Renaissance Faire" vibe.

Black Sabbath snacking on turkey legs at ye olde Renaissance Faire

Young Master Buffalo, he amuses one so

You know, "Planet Caravan" would be a good starting point for a new band.

'FX' and 'Laguna Sunrise' are probably my faves.
(The 'FX' >> 'Supernaut' sequence on the album is just, uh, super.)

Epiphone sends our best wishes to guitarist Tony Iommi who is seeking treatment for lymphoma. We're told that the cancer was found in the early stages and Iommi "remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery."

people don't like "Fluff"? It's purty.

nah, too long & repetitive, same as "Laguna Sunrise". But "Hole In the Sky" -> "Don't Start (Too Late)" -> "Symptom of the Universe" is one of the best transitions on record.

I really really like 'Supertzar'... been listening to Sabotage a lot over the last couple of months.

Where are E5150, Stonehenge, etc?

Best wishes to Iommi! His health is paramount, way down the list is hopefully the tour will go forward however.

You're a notch, I'm a legend (Bill Magill), Monday, 9 January 2012 20:08 (fourteen years ago)

The listed instrumentals are all fine, but I would pick A Bit of Finger, AKA 0.52-3.43 of Sleeping Village.
