I'll be omiting myself from here on in, as stevem has - between, myself, Steve and Ronan, we'd be running this thread up and down, probabaly. And maybe we should lay off the obv.-'Da Funk' doesn't get as much (non-digital) love as uh, 'Digital Love', so I felt it worth a mention, edging out 'Revolution 909'. Besides, I am a known list-maniac/murderer.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 23 October 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

This means someone else has to mention random DFA and Ewan Pearson stuff instead of me :-).

I'm glad that Siegbran has love for "Men Are Not Nice Guys" - I picked up the single of it the other day and both the original and all the remixes are awesome.

I phear everything I love has been mentioned, but a few that I suspect haven't:
FBD - She's So
Powder Productions - Skyline
808 State - Ancodia
Matt Darey - Beautiful (Dubaholics' Dub Mix)

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Saturday, 25 October 2003 06:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Men Are Not Nice Guys was very Ace Of Bass. So is Sophie Ellis Bextor's new single.

This thread might be a bit "where do I start" for poor Daniel now I suspect. Maybe if we all name one of the tracks we've named which we think someone not into electronic stuff should hear.

I am going to be obvious and name DJ Rolando-Jaguar.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 25 October 2003 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

DAMMIT How did I miss "Ancodia"????????

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i was gonna mention it, along with 'Magical Dream'

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it just me or is "San Francisco" secretly the greatest 808 State song ever?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

it's up there - great album opener too, one of their more Kraftwerky moments. i remember buying Ex:El on tape down in HMV Oxford Street, getting on the tube to go hime and listening to it on the walkman for the first time, and when the intro came in i was just sitting there with a huge grin and feeling of content and excitement at what was to come.

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

still not sure what the sample of the male voice is saying tho - 'you must follow'??

Barima (Barima), Sunday, 26 October 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe nobody mentioned "Good Life" by Inner City! That track is still stunning, 14 years after the fact.

and to think i nearly put 'Christmas present list'

stevem (blueski), Monday, 27 October 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I saw "Das Boot" which instantly reminded me of the utterly brilliant "Dildo".

I don't think I ever imagined that I would type the phrase "utterly brilliant 'Dildo'". Eep.

Hey, remember "Elevator Up And Down"?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 27 October 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

i liked 'Das Boot' at the time but god how ridiculous - that "1,2,3 techno!" is so silly. still, better than Scooter.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 27 October 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah agreed - I never liked it. The new "Das Boot" remixes are utterly brilliant though. Both the Westwood Brothers and Schall & Rauch versions are 100% fromage-free and rock like a motherfucker in every way that the 1991 version didn't.

Siegbran (eofor), Monday, 27 October 2003 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan, I think Rhythm Quest did 'Closer To All Your Dreams'.

Also, anyone know who did the one that goes "Don't/stop/moving/give it up/keep on moving/get it right/you go to get it right".

And another that goes "Something's feeling good in my soul".
Both are utter classics.

I reckon my Best of Mixmag Live would own this thread.
