i just got news of this:
>Hello,
Just want to announce that Michael Yonkers (Minneapolis psych garage legend with a relatively new resissue CD on Sub Pop) will be playing an in-store solo set at Mondo Kim's (6 St. Marks Place) this Saturday at 1:30 PM.
I saw this guy play in Mineapolis last year and it was nothing short of astounding. Don't be a dipshit, check it out.<

i highly recommend. he will also be playing at 9pm that night at subpop's cmj showcase.

Are you part of some PR "Street Team"?

Steph (Steph), Thursday, 23 October 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

michael yonkers is the new wu-tang.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 23 October 2003 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

absolutely not, although wouldn't it be nice to live in a world in which obscure psychedelic guitarists had street teams? michael yonkers and the reissue of some of his earlier material have been discussed on this board. i think it's appropriate to mention that he will be playing, especially considering that it's a rare occurence.

I'll be broadcasting a live radio set with the band too, Tuesday, November 4th 3-6pm eastern, live on WFMU 91.1 in nyc/nj area, and streaming on the web at www.wfmu.org. Very psyched for this indeed.

BT, are you part of some PR/Street team?

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 23 October 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, afterwards we all get on the bus and hit Times Square to plaster it with Pink posters. Anyone need a Hoobastank keychain?

I'd join the Yonkers street team but I'm still recovering from a Tea Party tea party/listening party.

Miroslav Frycer (Andy K), Friday, 24 October 2003 01:22 (twenty-two years ago)

oh ok i'll give it another chance. i haven't sold it yet..

Please. WHo here grew up on Broome or Grand. I didn't think so.

calstars (calstars), Friday, 24 October 2003 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Unfortunately for those of us who didn't bother to buy a CMJ badge, the Sub Pop showcase is sold out. I blame all the people going just to see Elyse Sewell.

Steph (Steph), Friday, 24 October 2003 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe try scamming a badge?

hstencil, Friday, 24 October 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

are you rehearsing your rock star persona for tomorrow night, mr. jewel?

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 24 October 2003 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

of course!

actually, I'm eating tofu pups and looking for jobs, but I'll be ready to faux-rock come tomorrow night!
