It's online somewhere i've been told. It's basically Albini on the Pixies and Wedding Present (how he charged the former $5000 for one remix and how he couldnt understand the frontman of the latter)...

Search engine not my friend.

I think the article you are looking for is called "Eyewitness Record Reviews" by Steve Albini. It is a pretty funny article, reviewing record that he recorded. I've got it in a compilation of rock writing.

Go to this page

http://www.angelfire.com/in/stierch/albini.html

and get the link from there, and hope that you can look at the relevant page and it's my crappy Mac's fault.

He certainly does come off as a creep.

Bitch Magnet "Star Booty" EP: Listen, all I did was help three college bozos
remix some sorry class-project recordings, and all of a sudden, Ding! I'm
their "producer." Listening to this poor wittle wecord is about the dumbest
thing you can do with it, especially if you're short on dinnerware. I did
work on an actual record of theirs later, and it wasn't unpleasant, but
Orestes "Toast" Delatorre, their drummer and interesting member, has left the
band to pursue dog grooming in Alaska or someplace, so who really cares. That
B'gnet routinely fires Jon Fine (token hebe) immediately after each recording
session is testament to his personality.
Fee: $100, I think.

Haha, that is both funny and pathetic at the same time.

h, is he talking about Britt there too?

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 24 October 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

His story about Whitehouse's William Bennett knowing how to play every Yes song and, basing everything on cassette recordings of famous heavy metal songs, is jaw dropping.

gygax! Britt never played in Bitch Magnet.

hstencil, Friday, 24 October 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i meant was he reffing him in the breeders section, sorry.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 24 October 2003 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

i mean do you know the whole story behind that tale or is it a fiction.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 24 October 2003 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

as much of an ass as he is, i wish he'd write one of these up for every record he works on.

Felcher (Felcher), Friday, 24 October 2003 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I never asked Britt whether it was true or not but having seen him wasted in other situations I just accepted it as true.

I heard a story that, at some point in time (don't know if it was for Star Booty - doubtful - or the other record he worked on with Bitch Magnet - uh?), Albini did lock Jon out of the studio.

hstencil, Friday, 24 October 2003 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, i've always been meaning to ask you, you must have some rare vineland shit, right? RIGHT?

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 24 October 2003 20:10 (twenty-two years ago)

no, I still only have the one 7-inch and a t-shirt. And I still don't even have the CL demo.

hstencil, Friday, 24 October 2003 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i have a couple of vineland singles, although i may have sold one or thrown it in the bin for not being very good

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 24 October 2003 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i have the singles, but there was (is?) a cassette of their never released LPs worth of material (with albini to keep it on-topic) they played when i saw them like 7-8 years ago which got me very hyped to this day.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 24 October 2003 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

That was awesome. Laughed a lot, but then again I find him super funny. He knows just which button to press and that is why people hate him. I watched him record a live Didgits ep at Lounge Axe, he tried to start a fight, because it would sound better on the record and shouted profanity at Rick thoughout their set. Hilarious.
When I record with Steve, I will honor his request for anonimity.
