HELP! NIAGRA FALLS IN MY HOME STUDIO!!

This morning I had water(clean at least) from the upstairs apt pour down all over my humble 4track studio set up. My digital alesis synth, pedals, 4track, tapes, guitars, everything got water on it.. The alesis the most of the downpour.
I called the landlord and the fix it guy came , the fix it guy told me that another handyman (NOT VERY HANDY) was upstairs cleaning out the apt. and flushed the toilet , the toilet was clogged, so the water came down onto my apt.
I do not have apt insurance, but since the handy man made the error can I bill my landlord for any dmage?
I have left her a message, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
(also, the handyman really should of not flushed the toilet as it was visibly clogged when I went upstairs to try and use it last month when I had the pleasure of having bees in my bathroom.)
help!
I dried off what I could and tested some of the gear before I left the house, so far so good, gotta love Boss pedals, but with the alesis I am not sure. AHHHHHHHHHH

You should be able to collect from the landlord. The landlord should be able to collect from the handyman. The handyman should have insurance. If he doesn't, the landlord is probably screwed.. and you may be also.

Open up the keyboard (or any of the electrical equitment) and let it dry, for a while, in a dry place.

I have absolutely no advice on fixing stuff, but I'd just like to say (as a guy who fucks around on guitars and samplers and stuff in my spare bedroom), I feel you, you have my deepest support and sympathies. And if you need to borrow a Small Stone or a crappy delay pedal until yours gets better, just AOL I.M. me, helltimemofo, and I'll mail'em out, as long as you give'em back eventually. Like in 3 or 4 months.

Also, move the sleeping accomodations into the flood zone and put your gear on the top floor, from now on. Because fuck a bed.
