Misunderstood Genius

So I've come to shudder and get nauseous whenever I hear that phrase. I take it as code word for: (semi)talented artist that's whacked out on drugs and treats people in a really shitty, user-ie way and gets forgiven.

am I wrong on that?

LOL! thanks for the best laugh I've had all week....

I'm just trying to find out who the people that by into the misunderstood genius myth are--and if they can correct me if I am wrong about the term. Don't know if it's cos I've been in the music biz or cos I've been around the whole LA music scene for ages--buy whenever I hear that phrase--I just think "oh, another asshole, better steer clear of him..."

It does seem to describe some of the embattled souls in the history of science, though, people like Kepler perhaps.
