I'm curious whether people think Graham Smith's catalogue of songs are worthy of such a thread. I came to the conclusion that they indeed are. In fact, I can't think of practically any other recent pop artist I'd want to do this with.

1. The Sun's a Stand Up Comic
2. Bling Bling (Have We Been Working Out?)
3. To the Boatcourt
4. Tendency Right Foot Forward
5. A Shame and a Waste
6. Withholding Hands
7. My, You Look Ravishing Tonight
8. Put it On the Desk
9. Running into the Arms of the Queen
10. Why I Write Such Good Songs

i can't say i even know 10 KGW songs (i've always meant to but haven't got around to checking them out further) but of what i've heard, "tendency right foot forward" and "the art of heroin" are fantastic.

I really liked "Why I Write Good Songs" for a while because I thought it sounded exactly like LFO (the boy band, not the techno group.) But then I got sick of it. I got sick of the one where he sorta raps like Wolfman Jack even quicker. I forget what the rest of it sounds like.

what i've always wondered: why didn't they get threatened with a lawsuit like kleenex/liliput did?

There's some good stuff on both Sexual Harassment and Ponyoak -- but I don't actually own either of them, so I don't remember titles. Can I mention again that I competed against 8th-grade Graham in a goddamn quiz bowl match! The meet was held at his fancy private school in Downers Grove (how I knew it was fancy: a) there was a courtyard, b) kids named Graham went there, c) on a question that nobody knew, some 6th-grade munchkin on his team gave the joke answer, "Ed Meese"; 11-year-olds make jokes about Reagan-era Cabinet members??). And so my team was lounging in the school's basement when I saw a box with a hole at the top, intended for kids to ask advice anonymously, and it'd be answered in a newsletter or something, I guess, and so, egged on by my friend Steve, I wrote on a piece of paper, "I think I got AIDS from my dentist. Graham Smith," and dutifully slipped it in the box. I never told him this, not even after I drove eight hours to Cleveland to see him play a solo show for like a dozen people in 1998.
