I know AMG readers might not be the most accurate depiction of the music-listening society at large, but this list still seems strange to me.

Who the fuck's Trina?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

i like that list actually, if only because i couldnt imagine that bjork, r kelly or trina would make it on.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Trina is definately a shocker.

I predicted that U2 was at #1. or the beatles, who are #2.

but Trina?

Andrzej B. (Andrzej B.), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I had never heard of Trina before this list.

But also:
-do classic rock artists still rule so far over the minds of people who want to know about rock?
-If Yes and Genesis belong to a genre that most people are supposed to hate, then why do so many people want to know about them?
-of all the current crop of modern rock bands, how are internet music searchers most interested in Korn?
-and yes, Trina?

dleone (dleone), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

she should be #1, she really is da baddest bitch.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

These aren't internet music searchers as much as AMG searchers. It's good for finding back catalogue work and musician connections. I someone wants to know about a modern band, they'd probably go wo www.nameofband.com.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Could it be Trina Shoemaker? But even so, why a producer in the middle of performers?

JP Almeida (JP Almeida), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

My guess is that Trina's own website (or some big article about her) is or was recently linked to the frontpage of AMG. But even so...

Maybe it's someone's idea of a joke. We should ask Andy K!

scott m (mcd), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Both of Trina's albums have made the top 20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

She also has a song called No Panties.

Andy K (Andy K), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

See, I told you he'd know.

scott m (mcd), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I think that Geir has been spending too much time at the AMG

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, no -- we're supposed to ask Ned first.

Andy K (Andy K), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a plan: everyone on ILM looks up the Stockholm Monsters at least twice a day every day until they're on the list

Sonny A. (Keiko), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

More curiosities about the Trina entry: her AMG styles are "Dirty South" and "Hardcore Rap". And yet, she's one of the most popular rock artists at AMG. This seems like something that would indicate a bug in how this stuff is tallied.

dleone (dleone), Monday, 27 October 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

don't you read rolling stone, dom? Trina is more rock than Joan Jett.

Felcher (Felcher), Monday, 27 October 2003 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Trina is grebt.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 27 October 2003 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm more surprised about 'N Sync at number nine.

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Monday, 27 October 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

This article mentions Trina in conjunction with AMG (cough)

nate detritus (natedetritus), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

The fact that Korn is #6 on that list makes me despair for the minds of future AMG users:

"The Beatles? Who cares! Let's look up more about Jonathan Davis!"

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

...they'd probably go wo www.nameofband.com.

Haha I just typed exactly that into my browser, expecting some crazy magic site with links and info about all sorts of cool new bands! The twat I am.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)
