Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 27 October 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)

tomorrow night in oakland at the black box, fred frith is playing with his new trio with gunda gottschalk (violin) and sudhu tewari (electronics), so I'm going to that.

tewari's in another local quartet called CMAU that tore my ears off the other night. live processing of acoustic sources, veering straight into inferno noise. their show rankjed with things like 'persepolis' or AMM's 'the crypt'.

I think I am going to try and make it through all of November without seeing a single gig!

kate (kate), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

the gira gig is at the bush hall btw.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 09:32 (twenty-two years ago)

k (blue), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 09:41 (twenty-two years ago)

ILX: bringing the people together!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Got me tickets for Dexys at the RFH, New Pornographers at Cargo and Ralph Stanley & Laura Cantrell at the Barbican. Quite indecently excited about all of 'em (though at the Barbican I am in the very, very back row up the top. Which means I probably won't be able to see. Which is a shame).

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 12:05 (twenty-two years ago)

10th November - ENNIO MORRICONE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

"part of me wants to see the magic band but I'll prob resist."

Well I think you should resist the urge to resist Julio!

I saw them at Shepherds Bush Empire back in April and they were absolutely excellent.

Unfortunately Robert Williams has since left the band (he threw another of his prima donna strops I believe) but I hear his replacement, Michale Traylor, is very good.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

8 november : melt banana @ the mean fiddler.

anyone know if the drummer from discordance axis is still playing with them?

psyched for the !!! show on 3/12. need to pick up tickets soon.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm trying to save up money but I can't say no to Primus in Columbus on Nov. 11th(?), with that whole Sailing-the-Seas-of-Cheese-from-beginning-to-end theatrical production (!?!) second set, wtf.

Spz in two weeks, Placebo in four. Works for me!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 October 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

ask jason to play 'revolution'

keith (keithmcl), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Dexy's were fucking marvelous when I saw them but they weren't on for more than 80 minutes. I am jealous of anybody who is going to another one.

I am also going to see Radiohead and the Human League. I am more excited about the Human League but they should both be jaunty.

Ferg (Ferg), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ask jason to play 'revolution'

Can do. And I KNOW Sonic would enjoy playing "Walking With Jesus."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

same night as Gira - Whitehouse / Earth at the Scala
Johnny Dowd at the Spitz Nov 13th
Kawabata Makoto at the Horse Hospital Nov 14th
Merzbow / New Blockaders / about 8 other acts at the Red Rose Nov 20th
Aki Onda at the Spitz Nov 26th
Melvins providing live soundtrack to the films of Cameron Jamie at the Forum Nov 28th

I hope to make it to most of these, I would go to that festival in Glasgow with AMM and the Boredoms but it's too far from London really.

udu wudu (udu wudu), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Vooredoms are playing Glasgow on 11/18 I believe, with Cosmos. I have considered flying to Scotland for this, but then again, what do I know about flying to Scotland?

dleone (dleone), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, its Nov 23, and the lineup is this:
AMM:
Vooredoms
Merzbow
Ryoji Ikeda
Cosmos
Vibracathedral Orchestra
Paragon Ensemble

dleone (dleone), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

who's this google-resistant band named Cosmos?

(Jon L), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

The AMG is your friend.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

good god.   I had no idea that I loved this band.

(Jon L), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I just had a look on Ryanair and you can get a return to Glasgow for about £20 from London. Hmmm. I'm considering it now.

udu wudu (udu wudu), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Possibly on Halloween: A-Frames and Singapore Slings at Graceland (seattle)
November 5th: Ex-Models & Dance Disaster Movement and others at Graceland

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

vibracathedral orchestra are playing as part of that julian cope festival thingy on friday btw.

yeah I've seen the ads for this: love to watch AMM again as the two occasions in which I've seen them they were absolutely great.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 30 October 2003 00:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Damn! If I was back in London, I'd come and see Michael Gira and Devendra Banhart...

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 30 October 2003 00:24 (twenty-two years ago)

If I make it i will report on the gira gig.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 30 October 2003 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

some things in new york city:
thursday 10/30 - chinese stars, the means, two other bands with me djing lots of good records as an added bonus. basement of lit lounge, 2nd avenue between 5th & 6th streets. also doubles as the afterparty for liars/young people bowery ballroom show, which means... nothing, probably.
friday 10/31 - !!! play, eric duncan and thomas bullock dj at the happy birthday hideout. flushing avenue between classon and taafe place, next to the gas station, brooklyn.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 30 October 2003 02:26 (twenty-two years ago)

"Tomorrow: Electric Soft Parade + (more importantly as far as I'm concerned!) Clearlake - The Fez Club, Reading"

Except that Clearlake didn't show and no explanation was given. Damn! ESP were pretty good but unexceptional.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 30 October 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh! Ooh! Tindersticks at Hammersmith Apollo tonight! And New Pornographers at Cargo Nov 11th! My cup truly runneth over...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 30 October 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

warp halloween party at the coronet (afx, plaid, vibert...)
michael mayer, superpitcher, craig richards, and richard davis @ fabric http://www.fabriclondon.com/

that amm lineup looks rather amazing...

disco stu (disco stu), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Hammertime. Mandarin Club, Sydney, 14th November. A night featuring Hardcore, Gabber, Speedcore, Breakcore. Lineup includes Geoff Da Chef, Ctrix, Mark N, Negative Network, Stoyk, Trashcoder, Outrage, Refresh, Fumo. Include acts on Fist, a great label from Newcastle (that's in Australia orright). It's only $15, whereas would you wnat to be. Yummah!

mentalist (mentalist), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

wheras = wherelse

mentalist (mentalist), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Tomorrow: Electric Soft Parade + (more importantly as far as I'm concerned!) Clearlake - The Fez Club, Reading"
Except that Clearlake didn't show and no explanation was given. Damn! ESP were pretty good but unexceptional.

I'm annoyed that Clearlake are supposed to be playing on this tour, cos I refuse to pay to go and see Electric Soft Parade. They played at a festival this summer, and we spent their entire set wondering what was the noise that they were making.
And The Vessels are supporting the Bluetones on tour.. Why are all my favourite bands supporting crap bands on tour?
In the next week I will be watching (amongst others) Cat on Form, Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategies, Nought, Meanwhile Back in Communist Russia, The Lucksmiths, Would Be Goods, Schmoof and Chicks on Speed (that's only half the bands I'm going to see as well. Hurray for 4 band bills)

jellybean (jellybean), Thursday, 30 October 2003 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm going to the warp thing tonight. anyone else?!?

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 31 October 2003 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

omg you all missed the best thing ever! weirdly, luke vibert slayed the warp halloween party!

why?

a) HE PLAYED FUCKIN WILEY, MAN!!!!!!! LIKE, one of the ESKIMOs!!!!! FUCK!!!!!!
b) he played the hardest acid techno that went straight to yr feet!
c) he made one of those tunes of AFX 'Classics', thats sounds like someone banging saucepand together, sound like a sexy'n'stylish booty track! like, i was surrounded by girls shaking their asses! AT A WARP NIGHT remember kids....
d) it was so fucking good!!!

OMG WTF VIBERT was not cheesy and dull?!?@!?E@E!

coincidence: he has got rid of his cheesey and dull long hair shit.

anyway i just wanted to let you know of this eath shattering event. afx was brutal, but predictable. plaid were lame andpredictable. jamie liddell was silly. that was it.

ambrose (ambrose), Saturday, 1 November 2003 05:33 (twenty-two years ago)

were lucy and charlotte et al there?

charltonlido (gareth), Saturday, 1 November 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)
