I never knew that the Village People were gay until Pet Shop Boys covered Go West.
I hadn't even thought about them in the intervening period between my innocent childhood enjoyment of them and this revelation. It made me like them again of course.

Also i never knew that Underground Resistance were anything more thana kind of hard edged boys own techno thing.

Then this morning a friend gave me a CDR comp. of 12"'s from the early 90's of their stuff with singers doing girly house stuff (Yolanda, Davina, Bridgett Grace) and *wow* I have to rethink what I thought about them...

I wasn't really talking about The Village People as individuals. I was talking about "The Village People" as gay...y'know: Gay iconography, lyrics about all guy things...
