What's the difference between the original album and the "Director's Cut" released last year. Is the original album in tact on the director's cut? Anything else?

Also tell me what the album is like. I'm going to buy it tomorrow having never heard it. What's it like?

I think the only difference is that the Director's Cut has an extra DVD with 3 Videos. But it doesn't even work on U.S. DVD players. I believe this version is also remastered.

As for the album, I love it. I think it's their best. Kevin Rowland talks over the music a lot of the time, rather than sings, and it works really well in my opinion. I don't know if you've heard their other albums or not--of course it has a very Irish sound. Very upbeat and joyful.

Also believe it has a new opening track. Don't have it, though. I miss the Creation CD w/ "Reminisce Pt. 1" on it. Now THAT'S some KR brilliance right there...

You can get the creation reissue cheaply on e-bay. The "Directors Cut" (on EMI) has a new opening track, "Kevin Rowland's 13th time". They don't all have a free DVD (It took a while for me to find one, after the fact).

Oh yeah, it is brilliant....

In the foreword to the Director's Cut, Rowland says that Creation used a stereo enhancer on the mix for the 1997 release, which he was never entirely happy with. So the Director's Cut is mixed without it.

Yeah, file that stereo enhancer argument under "Artist Quibbles No One Else Notices". Besides, "Reminisce Pt. 1" (avail. on the newest issue of Too-Rye-Aye) fits better as an adendum to DSMD...

y, kevin rowland does defiance like just about no other imo. even when it's completely self-defeating... and ridiculously tight grp of musicians backing him up on all their records.
