Inspired by the "Ya'll ready for this" thread, lets list all the classic tunes from around '88 to '92.

Technotronic, Crystal Waters, Snap!, etc...

i am too young to remember it, but in hindsight, it seems that house had a little momentum going before grunge happened, at least in america (obv uk has no "second" crossover period as dance never "retracted" in the same way there, right?).

no no but i was thinking electronically.. i mean, i think that it really wasnt until after disco that this great divide between "dance" music and pop music really seemed to exist. yes there was the anti-disco sentiment, the anti-rock/r&b sentiment, but i think that those exist in seperate spheres.

But even if we're talking electronic dance crossovers post-disco, why wouldn't say, the Latin-freestyle-heavy post-Madonna era (which also included, like, "Pump Up the Volume" and "French Kiss") (if not the electro-funk-heavy post-Prince era a couple years earlier) (which also included, like, "Axel F" and "Rockit") count as the first one???
