i prefer traditional record reviews, but i don't think that review could've been done any other way. great ending too.

Yeah, I'd say that's an example of a gimmick that works surprisingly effectively. Also nice that it isn't condescending or bitter, like Ryan's famous Jimmy Eat World review; I like that the fans know what's what in this scenario!

At the very least now I know the name of the band that makes me want to kick my TV in when that commercial comes on.

I loved that Jimmy Eat World review.. best thing I ever read on Pitchfork.

I get the feeling there's probably one good song on the Jet album. Anyone know what it is? (it is NOT Are You Gonna Be My Girl, it sounds like Supergrass - the 2002 model - covering Iggy Pop - badly).

excellent - great ending as dean said.

What's the point? Isn't the rest of the site mainly reviews of shitty rock bands that sound like other shitty rock bands? And isn't this gimmick really, like, I don't know the right word-- like, it's so poorly executed and stiff and unfunny. Why bother?

d k (d k), Saturday, 1 November 2003 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

And here we'd gone seven whole posts without people hatin' on Pitchfork

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Saturday, 1 November 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't have anything against Pitchfork. I'm going to be writing for them soon.

Australians don't ever, ever say 'dude'. They say 'mate', or 'jeez'. Also, they never say 'bitches'; they say 'shelias'.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 November 2003 02:22 (twenty-two years ago)

people in inner mellbourne say dude. And they have terrible fake short-to-longs. And they like Jet.

threemetalinsects (threemetalinsects), Saturday, 1 November 2003 02:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Jeez.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 November 2003 02:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, the dialogue was kind of stilted, but there is no fading that punchline. SHAZAM

nate detritus (natedetritus), Saturday, 1 November 2003 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

andrew harper from melbourne did you go to my high school?

minna (minna), Saturday, 1 November 2003 02:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe I'm bored but I thought this exchange was funny, especially taken out of context

"You guys are covered in shit! What's going on out there?"
"They threw their shit at us!"

Sonny A. (Keiko), Saturday, 1 November 2003 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

That actually happened! (sort of)

nate detritus (natedetritus), Saturday, 1 November 2003 04:46 (twenty-two years ago)

it might as well not even exist, just like the album it failed to review.
