Blur "Good Song" plagarism

I don't know if anyone else has already pointed this out but Blurs new single sounds uncannily like Primitive Radio Gods "Standing Outside a Broken Phonebooth With Money in My Hand"
What other bands have had hits with slightly obscure plagarised songs? Not the obvious Louis Louis rip-offs!

"Louis Louis" is my favorite Shags song.

"SOaBPBwMiMH"?? Obscure??

Mister Snrub (MisterSnrub), Monday, 3 November 2003 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

In the original Klingon like that, yes.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 November 2003 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

for blur to have a good song it would almost certainly have to be plagiarism

personally i don't see much of a resembalance between the blur tune and the primiative radio gods one.

Thats the one with the BB King sample isn't it?

Blur has a good song?!

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 3 November 2003 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, it's called "Country House". Have you heard it? Top tune.

I believe Elastica were successfully sued by Wire, who claimed that "Connection" was a rip-off of "Three Girl Rhumba."

...and Waking Up = No More Heroes.

Jez (Jez), Monday, 3 November 2003 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I know it's a slightly different issue, but that Verve/Rolling Stones thing still amazes me, as the loop came from an orchestral motif which wasn't even in the song...& Keith Richards still managed to sue.

The riff in Stone Temple Pilots' "Sex Type Thing" = Kiss "War Machine". Hey that's the second time I've mentioned them today. I'm going to keep mentioning them until there is a critical reappraisal of this amazing band!

dave q, Monday, 3 November 2003 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

STP or Kiss?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 3 November 2003 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, Kiss hardly need to be re-appraised anymore, do they? (I'm just doing the mop-up work like re-ordering 'Rock and Roll Over' over 'Destroyer' in the canon etc, that kind of trimming around the edges. A diversion, hardly urgent)

"Fight Test" by the Lips = "Father & Son" by Cat Stevens.
