Anyone heard it yet? There is a tracklisting up that got me very excited. Also mix CDs from Wiley, Roll Deep, and Tinchy Stryder (sic? any of the millions ways it is spelled). Tell me more.

Yeah, I can't wait to hear this either. What's it gonna be called?

Michael B, Monday, 3 November 2003 01:08 (twenty-one years ago)

"The Next Level", I think.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 3 November 2003 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

tracklist?

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 November 2003 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, not a full one but:

"So how is the album going?

Yeah I’ve finished it. I’ve got 17 tracks. The first track on it is called “Came To The Game.” There’s “I Was Lost,” “Reasons,” “I Need Someone,” “Got Somebody,” ”Problems,” “Going Mad,” “Moving On” “Next Level Remix” “Pick Urself Up” “Ice Rink (vocal mix)” and “Eskimo (vocal mix).” "

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 3 November 2003 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Weird.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 3 November 2003 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm actually surprised - but pleased - that tracks like Eskimo and Ice Rink are making it onto the album. I expected any Wiley/Roll Deep album to entirely skirt ultra repetitive alienoid 8-bars. As it is, the balance of those tracks with more musical stuff like "Pick Yourself Up" could work really well - and presumably be much more representative of grime as a totality than Boy in da Corner is.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 3 November 2003 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Especially as a lot of those tracks are fairly old now- in that same interview, he says that "Ground Zero" (which I just love) was written after 9/11. He also seems to want to distance himself from Dizzee a bit, and Dizzee from Roll Deep, which kind of surprised me.

I suppose a lot must have changed, right? But "Problems" is still there.

do some people have it? it sounds like reynolds did...

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 04:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it had a March release date (probably April now), so I'd expect it to leak any day now...

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 04:53 (twenty-one years ago)

This cat isn't even close to above ground in the states, but the two tracks I've heard got me salivatin'.

i just got a copy today, having not heard so much wiley before. it's got the problems riddim, but the tracks called something else. wot you call it, pies, eskimo, there's a short ice rink interludey thing. sounds a lot less menacing, more pop maybe than dizzee?

glenny g2003 (glenny g2003), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i like the 'what do you call it track!' i think thats what its called!
roll deep is the future!

gaol clichy (clichy), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

if "problems" is the future, i prefer to be stuck in the past. good gawd, what a disappointment.

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

This is a good album, but not a great one. The beats are all pretty strong, but I'm not sure Wiley is an inventive enough lyricist to carry it. Too many tracks are too thematically similar to 'Pick Yourself Up' to really cut it. Best tracks: 'The Game', 'Pies', 'Goin' Mad' (which could almost be The Streets, really...)

Should have been a Roll Deep album, maybe.

Jason J, Wednesday, 10 March 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

no leak, yet (on slsk anyway). single out on 5th april ("wot do you call it?"), album due 26th april.
