the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 3 November 2003 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Good call.

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Monday, 3 November 2003 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Youngbloods, "Get Together". Ask people if this song has a verse and 100 out of 100 people aren't sure.

Talking Heads - "Once in a Lifetime"

???

You ever heard somebody karaoke "Once in a Lifetime"?

Mark (MarkR), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

every time I make a run
girl you turn around and cry
I ask myself why oh why
see you and my son disturbed
I can't work a 9 to 5
so I'll be gone 'til November

clef (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark, you make me sad

Fountains of Wayne - "Radiation Vibe"

Wrong. Chorus>verse, though.

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Does that song even have a verse melody?

Sam J. (samjeff), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Apart from a zillion songs with rap verse and melodic chorus, I would like to point out a somewhat obscure Howard Jones song as the most obvious example. "Specialty" from the "Dream Into Action" album had possibly the most wonderful chorus he has ever written, yet the verse spoiled the entire listening experience.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

And, yes, Erasure's "Chorus" fits quite well to its title, as the rest of the song is dustbin material for certain.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

That Go-Betweens song is ALL good. My pick would be Guided By Voices's "Liquid Indian".

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah liquid indian is a good choice

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:21 (twenty-one years ago)

NOW we're talking 'bout
Beyonce "Crazy in Love"
but that's too easy

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Donovan's "Atlantis". Although truer words have never been commited to vinyl.

mopepope (musicmope), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

whut the hey? "Crazy In Love" is ALL good too! If anything it's awesome chorus, awesome verse, mediocre Jay-Z cameo.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

oh no Anthony
while I agree about Hova,
those verses are wack

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

oh oh oh oh oh no no.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 03:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i like the hov verses

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

it's all a matter
of personal preference
but you know I'm right :-]

actually I
have softened on that song some.
but not all that much.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, come on people. If we're going to pick a Beyonce song for this, it's CLEARLY "Baby Boy", seeing as that one doesn't even pretend to have verses.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Friday, 27 February 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

six years pass...

"Here Comes The Night" by Them

but it's confusing because it starts with the amazing chorus ("Woah here it comes, here comes the ni-ee-ight...") and then kicks into the corny verse ("I coul;d see right out my window...")

A piping hot bowl of shits (A piping hot bowl of grits), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:49 (fifteen years ago)
